new license on its way!

Yesterday I went to the DMV to get a new driver's license.  Mine doesn't expire until next June, BUT I'm having more and more people look at my ID and say that they aren't sure that it's ME on there.  When I went to the DMV, the first girl had to call over a supervisor to take a look at me and my DL, and finally sent me to a clerk to help me.  The clerk also called over a supervisor to check me out along with my bank cards that have my old photo and my new one on them.  I had to take another written exam - which I haven't taken since I was 16 (!), and now I'm getting a new license!  YAY!  Once I have that, I will apply for a new passport.  Last month, coming home from Canada, I was told twice that my passport couldn't be mine because I look so different! Many people that I've known for years, but haven't seen in a long time have NO idea who I am - unless they see my husband and recognize him.  Just another of the many aspects of this surgery - part of being a whole new me!

Jennie, it's funny that you mention this -- I just transferred my CA license to CO (if you have a valid license from most of the 50 states, CO only requires you pass an eye exam), and the drone at the Motor Vehicle Bureau here just took my vital statistics from my CA license, which said that I weighed 250 (my CA license photo should have shown me with a nose as long as Pinocchio's for telling the Oakland DMV such a lie about my weight!  ) When I got my CA license years ago, I weighed at least 400 lbs and my face was the width of a hood on a Volkswagon Bug!  I sure didn't look like I weighed only 250!  When I hit 250 and announced it to my family, my niece called and said, "Hey, you actually weigh what your driver's license says you weigh!"  Well, I now weigh less than what my CO driver's license says I weigh, but being a CO license, the photo is very recent.  I actually like my driver's license picture, and am tempted to email the Motor Vehicle Bureau to ask if I can have a copy.  Congratulations on getting a replacement license, and especially for braving those lines at the DMV.  The lines in Oakland were always insane -- one time years ago when I had to renew, I was up in Sacramento on business and it was actually quicker to renew in Sacto than it was to get an appointment in Oakland.  Of course, having been to the CO Motor Vehicle Bureau, I can say that DMV transactions in CA are extremely speedy in comparison!
