Hypothyroidism, pills, and personal experiences....
I had a baby in August, went to my PCP in December to pursue WLS. I had my thyroid checked, hyper.. Then rechecked hypo. They want to retest in 2 months. If I do have hypothyroidism and can get it regulated with meds, will I lose wt?? Does anyone have experience with this issue?? My hormones could still be off from the pregnancy but... I am so eager to know...

A close friend of mine has hypothyroidism. On medication she didn't lose much weight, but she felt a million times more energetic and it really seemed to make a difference for her overall quality of life. It also returned her fertility, which had been off for a while. A month after she started thyroid meds she was pregnant, after about 2 years of trying. From what I understand there is a big range of "acceptable" thyroid values, and depending on which tests you get there is some variation in results. My most recent thyroid test was borderline hypothyroid, so I'll be retesting in a month or so. In my case, I had an angoigram about a month prior to the test and the dye can affect your values.
A recent pregnancy can definitely affect the test too, no doubt about that! Good luck!
