I GOT A WILD HAIR TO CALL AROUND TO SOME PLASTIC SURGEONS OFFICES THIS MORNING AND BEFORE I KNEW IT I HAD MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR AUGUST 14TH IN ATLANTA.. I WANT THIS TO HAPPEN FOR THE STOMACH AREA BUT IS A GIVEN IF INSURANCE DONT WANT TO PAY IT WONT BE HAPPENING... I AM NOT A VANITY TYPE PERSON BUT MY STOMACH IS REALLY REALLY BAD. THE PRIVATE AREA IS ALMOST COVERED TOTALLY. I KNOW (TMI) LOL... I COULD HAVE GOTTEN IN EARLIER BUT WITH THE WEDDING IN A FEW MORE WEEKS I FELT WOULD BE TO OVERWHELMING TO ME. ONE HURDLE AT A TIME LOL.... I HAVE DIFFERENT FEELINGS ABOUT PLASTIC SURGERY THAN I DID WLS... WLS WAS TO SAVE MY LIFE AND GIVE ME QUALITY OF LIFE AGAIN. I CAN CERTAINLY LIVE WITHOUT A TUMMY TUCK. AND AFTER BEING MARRIED FOR THIRTY YEARS NEXT YEAR I DONT THINK MY HUSBAND HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE SKIN LOL... I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CO PAY WHEN I GET THERE AND THE INS WILL PAY FOR THE OFFICE VISIT. I MAD SURE I ASKED ALL ABOUT THAT. AND SHE SAID WILL GO FROM THERE TO TAKING PICS  AND DOCUMENTING STUFF AND AWAY TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY IT WILL GO. SHE SAID THEY HAVE PRETTY GOOD RESULTS WITH BCBS AND THATS WHAT I HAVE BUT ITS FEDERAL KIND. DONT KNOW IF MAKES A DIFFERENCE OR NOT. SHE THEN SAID THEY MIGHT APPROVE RIGHT AWAY OR WANT  MORE DOCUMENTS FROM DRS OR COULD TURN YA DOWN BUT I KNOW HOW THAT WORKS ANYWAY. BUT LIKE I SAID TO HER.... IF CANT BE APPROVED I WILL TUCK MY STOMACH IN MY JEANS AS USUAL AND WALK AWAY LOL.. SO AM FEELING BLESSED JUST TO HAVE THE WLS AND ANYTHING AFTER LOSING WHAT I HAVE IS ALL GRAVY BABY ANYWAY..... I too feel a bit odd about having a plastic surgeon!  It seems so strange for plain ol' me--I guess I link plastic surgery to people with "serious" reconstruction or the vain hollywood types.  But I have to say, I am so pleased with my breast reduction and arm lift.  And now I'm waiting for the nurse to call about scheduling the tummy tuck.  (Insurance paid for everything except the arms.)    The excess stomach skin can interfere with sexual activity and so that makes it a medical condition.   Good luck with it, Sally

Hi Ladies: Like everything I do in life I did this ass backwards.  I had a panni 4 years ago in the hopes that removing the apron would help me to be more mobile and then lose weight.  I was dead set against WLS 4 years ago.  I had a total of 50 lbs removed.  I think it was 7-12 lbs. of skin and the rest was fluid.  I came out of the hospital 50 lbs. lighter then when I went in.  I had no problems with the operations, no pain.  Just terrified that when I stood up my bottom half wouldn't.  Of course I didn't lose any more weight and went on to have the GBS.  This is the interesting point, my GBS surgeon told me that because of my size there should be no problem with the insurance company paying for another panni when I reached about 250 lbs.   If you ladies are at goal.  Do it.  Go for the whole magilla.  We are special weight loss survivors, our journeys have been longer and harder.  I lost 160 lbs. and still have another 100 to go so I know of what I speak.   A panni is not the same as a tummy tuck.  I understand that a tummy tuck takes longer to heal and there is slightly more pain, but you ladies worked hard and deserve to have the tight little body. Thanks for letting me put in my $.02 worth. Jeanne

I'm not even at goal yet, and I can't wait to get some of this excess skin removed.  My lower girl bits hang so low, I feel like I need an athletic supporter!  And, of course, I need a major overall in the boobage area as well.  Not to mention thighs, belly, etc.  Heck, just hang me from a hook and pull tight, then lop off the skin from the scalp!  Let us know what the PS says, Marge! Marge! Good luck with your consultation. I hope they are able to get this approved for you. I can't wait to be able to get rid of this stomach. The more I work out the more it seems to sag. I'm all a mess down there. Keep us updated and let us know what they tell you!!

Hi Marge:    Thanks for sharing the info.  I'll be interested to hear what you find out, too.  I haven't been on this board in many, many months, (sorrier than i can say) -but I, too, am going for plastics consult.  This will be my second attempt, tho.  I lost 200 lbs so far, need to lose another 80 or so, but keep injuring myself or developing health issues.  Suffice it to say that I'm hoping a panni will help with the rashes and backaches and they'll approve it this time.  And then I'll try for a breast reduction.  My upper back and shoulders need a rest.  The girls are now a DDD - i've renamed them flopsy and mopsy, and hope like the dickens I can get insurance to ok a reduction/lift???.    At any rate - good luck with your appointment.  Hope it goes well for you. :-)
