I walked a mile at 5:30 am this morning, why on earth was I up so early?? I'd been working from home for a few days and sleeping in, so it was kind of nice to see the sun rise.
I plan to do 20 minutes on the recumbent bike this evening as well.
Does anyone here do yoga?
I have not started doing yoga yet. But, I think it is important that I get into a good beginner class. They say you are not truly fit unless you have good cardio endurance, strength training and flexibility. My flexibility is not as good as it should be and I think yoga will help. I need a beginner class as I have been injured in yoga classes that were too advanced before. I'm also hoping it helps me with stress relief.

I used to take yoga classes (I had to make some modifications but was fortunate to have an instructor willing and understanding) and still really enjoy it although there are definitely some of the beginner positions I can't even get in to now. I am very flexible for my size, just have NO ENDURANCE WHATSOEVER. There is a good easy video, just my size yoga, that I've done a few times recently and I recommend it, even if you aren't fat anymore. She also provides some good modifications for people with position issues or balance issues.
I've wanted to try pilates but it looks too intense at this point. My mom and both aunts do Tai Chi and it looks pretty cool, I think I'll start Tai Chi classes after surgery. They are getting into competitions and stuff, and holding classes at the public library for kids now. Its cool how much they've taken to it over the past few years, and you can definitely see a difference in their fitness. Its very slow and controlled movement so it works balance and strength instead of cardio. Even my aunt with semi-advanced multiple sclerosis took tai-chi (in a chair) and got some benefit from it. I hope I take to it, because I have a hard time sticking to any fitness program, I get bored. Yoga is one of the few I've tried that I really liked. I guess you just have to find your "thing"
Let's see, I went to the rec center early in the day and did 20 minutes of intensive armbike (forward), then went with my sibling this evening and did 20 minutes of less intensive armbike (backward). She was supposed to go to a power circuit class, but I should have known she'd skip it at the last minute.
Even with all the activity today, I feel like I ate too much food. Ugh! I think I'll just eat soup tomorrow.

Hey, Lori, I hit the gym twice on Monday. I lifted weights for upper and lower body at lunch, then did 60 minutes on the elliptical trainer after work. I bumped my cardio from 40 minutes to 60 minutes last week, and it's going okay. So far, the "extra" 20 minutes does not seem to be helping me lose any weight, but I know it improving my cardiovascular fitness so I'll stick with it.
Thanks for keeping the gym open!
