Sorry for the lateness in opening the gym.  It has been one of those days. I did 45 mins on the track this morning with 20 mins strength training. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

30 minutes recumbent stationary bike, a LONG time shopping and walking through the mall and Target, and I completely cleaned and organized my office - which probably broke the most sweat of all!  I was very productive today.. YAY!   Best Wishes To All Jenn

Jenn, The two birds with one stone approach is always the best! (Sweating and getting something done.) Good for you! Lori

Hi Lori, I'm so bummed today!  About 10 days ago, my oldest daughters boyfriend invited us to his birthday bash - he just turned 22, whi*****luded lazer tag.  Durin play,  i jammed my pinkie finger of my left hand into the wall.  By the end of night, my finger was a lovely shade of purple, and I knew it was broken.  The next morning, we went to urgent care, and had my hand checked.  The PA on duty didn't think it was broken, but both John and I could CLEARLY see the break.  My finger was splinted, and I was told it should be fine.  Last Friday, I got a phone call saying that it was broken, and to come for a follow up on Wednesday -- today.  So, I skipped the pool until tonight, and headed to the doctor.  Not only is it broken, but badly broken, needing a CAST!  So, I'm in a cast almost to my elbow for the next 2 weeks, and I cannot go to the pool!! I'm not sure what I will be able to do in the gym that doesn't require holding on. Saddness here!

Not sure if you want to bother, but there are waterproof cast covers you can buy that keep the cast dry while swimming.  They might be a bit costly, though ($30+). Kix

Kix -  Thank you so much!  I had NO idea I could get a cover.  I just ordered one, and I should be back to the pool shortly!

My suggestions are 1-recumbant bike or 2-treadmill.  The worst part is sweating in a cast!  I'm so sorry you have to go through this!!!!!

Hugs,

Lori

Hi Lori, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer and 20 minutes on the treadmill. I also did various machines for 15 minutes.

Sorry for the lateness of my reply, yes, it certainly was one of those days (grr, snarl, hiss), wasn't it? I did 30 minutes of intensive armbike.  My arms should have snapped off at the shoulder, but they didn't!  I also did some unintended walking today  -- my stupid Whole Foods store has lost the keys to all three of their electric shopping carts, so I had to walk around to do my shopping.  Their lack of concern about not having keys for the carts really set me on edge, so I walked fast and furious, and now my knees are sore.  Did it punish them?  No, just me.  How stupid was I, anyway?  A year ago, I couldn't have walked fast and furious, so I need to be grateful for the ability to do so.  It made my thigh area sore, too, and I'm worried I might have done something to my healing incision.  I won't know until tomorrow when I change the dressing. I did send a nastygram to their headquarters, though, so there are small victories to be had today! Kix
