Want to Intoduce Myself
Hello to one and all. I am from Ohio and live about 25 miles west of Cleveland. I have 2 boys 21 and 18. I have been married to a wonderful man for 22 years. I am in the middle of the Medical Mutual 6 month supervised diet,,,which I am doing horrid at. I am going in on May 29th for the sleep ap test. I am hoping to have surgery late summer early fall. My bmi is hovering between 58 and 59. I am only 5 ft tall...thats right a whole 60 inches..so its pretty easy for me to have a high bmi I've been told. I never knew about this board I just stumbled on it today. I was just told today by my case manager at St Vincent Charity hospital that I will have to do the 2 week optifast liquid diet. UHG!!!! I can only imagine.
Just wanted to stop in and say hello and by the way I am have Lap/Ryn. I'm sure I will have lots of questions in the future.

Hi Tina!!! Welcome. Yes, that preop diet is hard. Well, any diet is hard. Anyway, I am sure you will do just fine. I visited Cleveland last fall for a little weekend trip - we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame then drove up to Cedar point for a couple of days. It was really fun. Welcome again!

My surgeon wanted me to lose 10% of my weight before surgery, so I did a modified (1100 calorie)Optifast plan. I lost the 10% so quickly that I asked to stay on it until my surgery date and ended up losing 20% of my weight pre-op. It's not so bad, especially if you get some of the sugar-free coffee syrups to mix in. Also, I used a blender and added some ice cubes to give it more volume.
