I pretty much eat the same thing everyday. Leftover chicken or fish for breakfast. Or I have Oatmeal for breakfast. I am allergic to eggs. I always have tuna for lunch. I get my protein thru the food I eat only. It won't stay down any other way. I have chicken or fish with a green veggie for dinner. I bring fruit, nuts, skins, and  beef jerky to snack on at work and I have SF popsicles if I have a snack at night. Normally, I don't snack at night. I don't eat anything after 8pm. BTW I am addicted to carbs as well and I stay away from them as much as possible.   Canned Tuna Skins/pork rinds Shredded Cheese Tilapia, Catfish, Orang Roughy, Flounder, Whiting(I cook all my meat on my George Foreman grill, yummy) Boneless chicken breast Deli meats(slice turkey and chicken and wrap them in lorraine cheese) Weight Control Oatmeal. What is protein Oatmeal and where do you get it. Almonds Cashews beef jerky canteloupe honey dew melon water melon bananas Crystal lite  string beans  spinach collard greens SF Popsicles

Hi Margie: I think this a really good idea.  I am also eating the same old, but I really don't want to put too much variety in as I am really trying to teach myself that I eat to live.  Like you I can tend to be a carb crackhead, but only with crackers and sunchips, two things I never ate before surgery.  Here is my list: Different concocted milkshake with Unjury protein powder  Cheese ends, broken up in cube style Atkins Morning protein bar Rolled up roast beef, ham or smoked turkey Mozzi cheese sticks Dannon lite and fit yogert Tuna mixed with low fat mayo and dijon mustard Smoked salmon Grilled Chicken (i have a mean marinade) Grilled Salmon Grilled Swordfish or Tuna "Fried" Catfish (made in oven) Atkins Advantage bars Protein Delight Blondies Sci Fit fat free beef stick Banana Any kind of cut up melons Spinach and mushroom sauteed Baked squash SF Jello Pudding

Cool Whip

Mini Choco chips mixed with the pudding (I know bad)

Joseph's sugar free, fat free chocolate walnut cookies

I am sure that there is other stuff but this is my main monthly diet.  My protein shake is an every morning .

At 11 months out I still don't eat bread, pasta, rice or cereal.  I also can't eat lettuce or celery (YAH)

I go from the same old, same old to throwing in something different based on the occasion.  I buy high quality locally raised, hormone free, grass fed, etc. meats, fish, and poultry because even with the higher prices, I'm still not spending as much on food as I used to.  And good organic eggs are just sooooo much better tasting.   I do eat out some, Thai, Indian, Vietnamese, especially but also standard fare.  I work to have food just one element of my life--not something that will define my experience--but I do also enjoy my food.  So here goes: lamb beef pork bison some chicken--I have a tough time of it not being too dry tuna scallops shrimp--lots of that fresh fish--tuna, salmon, halibut, cod, trout, etc. imitation crabmeat eggs chicken or turkey sausage thick sliced deli meat--cut up for salads or to add protein to soups organic skim milk yogurt peanut better Muir Glen fire roasted tomatoes green beans lettuce red or yellow bell peppers Panera's black bean soup watermelon grapes cantaloupe black, blue, strawberries weight control oatmeal prunes Grape Nuts--with yogurt Kashi Go Lean Crunch  Target's High Protein Cereal Saltine crackers--sometimes too tempting nuts trailmix dark chocolate--treat! TCBY non fat, no sugar added frozen yogurt And occassionally things I shouldn't have (generally PMS driven!) And an endless variety of condiments trying to find just the right thing! Sally

I'm the first to admit that I get in food ruts.  I've been that way my entire life.  I can eat the same thing every day for a couple of weeks and then not want it again for a while. I eat mostly protein and a few carbs. Beef: hamburger, steak, liver, sometimes roast beef Chicken: dark meat only, prefer rotisserie chicken from Costco Fish: shrimp, salmon, halibut, raw tuna An occassional potato Green peas Green beans Zucchini String Cheese Cheddar Cheese (shredded or sliced) Swiss Cheese Snack and Slim High Protein Pudding (a.k.a. Stallone Pudding) Chili (love the buffalo chili cooked up fresh at Whole Foods) Split Pea Soup Cup Mediterranean Soup Cup Cottage cheese when I'm in the mood Crystal Light lemonade, diluted by 1/2 because full strength is too tart I haven't tried salad since WLS.  I wasn't a big salad eater to begin with, so I'm not craving it.  I do not eat breads or pastas (other than the small amount of pasta in my Mediterranean Soup Cup).  If I focus on eating primarily protein, I find I'm not interested in snacking during the day.  I eat three meals/day. That's about it.  I am so boring, but on the other hand, I'm pretty easy to feed.  Cook me a hamburger (rare, please), and that's pretty much all I need for a meal.  If you want to get real fancy, toss a spoonful of cottage cheese on the side. Great idea, Marge.  Like the other folks that I have responded, I have a core group of foods that I eat all the time, supplemented with a smattering of different things to keep life interesting.  I definitely eat things that aren’t on this list, including sugars and processed carbs, but those things are the exception rather than part of my daily diet.  Here’s my staples:

Propel Fitness Water w/ Calcium Instant oatmeal (Quaker Weight Control or Kashi Go Lean)

Eggs (hard boiled, scrambled, over easy, egg salad)

Breyer’s Light yogurt (sometimes w/ ground flax meal, sometimes with Bob’s Red Mill Muesli)

Cottage cheese w/ sugar free preserves & Splenda (sometimes add sliced strawberries or blueberries)

Turkey sandwich (1 slice Brownberry health nut bread, 3 slices turkey, 1 slice 2% cheese, mustard)

Non-fat latte w/ sugar-free vanilla syrup

Mocha light Frappuccino from Starbucks

Pure Protein chocolate peanut butter bars (when I’m in a hurry or traveling)

Lean Cuisine frozen meals (I look for the meals that are 250 calories or less)

Kashi frozen meals (love the Southwestern Chicken)

Chicken (prepared a variety of ways, usually breast meat)

Beef (mostly good quality steaks, occasional hamburger w/ mushrooms and cheese)

Pork (boneless pork chops, oven roasted pork tenderloin)

Salmon

Shrimp

Scallops

Green beans

Spinach (sometimes sauteed w/ scrambled eggs - yum)

Asparagus

Broccoli

Cauliflower Green Beans Collard greens/turnip greens

Salads

Mushrooms

Sprouts (bean, alfalfa)

Carrots

Apples w/ Frigo twisted string cheese (half mozzarella, half cheddar)

Bananas

Pears

Cantaloupe

Nectarines (in season)

Strawberries

Blueberries

Raspberries Rice, Pasta, Potatoes ****asionally - no longer part of my daily diet) That's all I can think of for now - thanks for starting an interesting post! Kellie

This is a great idea! I've loved reading everyone's lists, see if I can get some good ideas! I don't eat much carbs either - just the occasional tortilla but no bread, pasta or rice. I've added vegetables but I'm having a hard time with getting fruit in - I'm just not a big fan. But I keep trying! I really try to mix my food up since I tend to get bored. So, I've been trying out all these different recipes that I've found on the internet. I make a new one each weekend, which lasts me the whole week. I'm becoming a pro at freezing leftovers! If anyone is interested in some new recipes, try Susan Marie's site - she is a lady who has had surgery and wrote a cookbook that is wonderful! She has some of her recipes on her website and I've tried many of them - my favorite is chicken cordon bleu. http://store.bariatriceating.com/ourhomeandre.html       My basic staples are: eggs (LOVE eggs!) SF jello pudding mix Atkins protein and breakfast bars (I love these and they are perfect for hiking) chicken - all natural (although I love Boston Market chicken - I'll buy a whole chicken and it will last me over a week) ground beef - the all natural, extra lean type. I mix it with dry ranch mix and grill it South Beach Wraps Cashews Refried beans Cheese - 2%, either sliced, shredded, string, ricotta, parmesan (cheese is my lifesaver!) Honey Nut Cheerios (this is my little treat that I give myself, plus it's perfect when my blood sugar is low - a little goes a long way) Zucchini (I love to grill this with parmesan cheese) Broccoli Green beans Apples (I love them with Peanut Butter but I try not to buy Peanut Butter any more - too hard to stop eating!) South Beach frozen dinners tortillas (the low carb or whole wheat ones) Some fun recipes I have tried: Cheesy Chicken Enchiladas Chicken Cordon Bleu Chicken Stir fry without the rice Cheesy Egg Casserole Chicken Tenders (not fried, but just as good!)
