Had a massage last night.  Made the back feel somewhat better.  Today, I just walked at the gym for 25 min and spent the next 25 min doing a little upper body and ab strength training with about 15 min of back stretches. What did you do to move your body today? Lori

Hi Lori,  Glad to see you up and moving. Well today I did 65 min on treadmill and 15 min on elliptical and that was it for me. Tomorrow will begin my weight training for the week. Talk to ya soon Lorraine

Today's focus is weight training so I am planning 20 minutes of cardio (either one of Caribbean Workout's or Shape's 20 minute cardio sessions) followed by 60 minutes of weights (Get Ripped: Slim and Lean).

I mixed it up a bit today, started with the treadmill for 20 minutes. It took FOREVER for my heart rate to get to it's target, so I might not be doing this again. I went up to an elevation of 10 and finally it got moving. I need to figure out something that is challenging yet different than what I do everyday. I might have to pull out some of those videos a friend gave me - they look tough! After my struggle on the treadmill I did 30 minutes on the elliptical, where I had no problem keeping my heart rate up!

I don't know how your joints are doing  in terms of how much impact they can withstand but do you think doing walking/jogging intervals on the treadmill would get your heart rate where you want it?

Hi Tracy, Boy, do I wish I could run and get my heart rate up that way! But remember when you were saying you wish you could walk like me and Lori without falling? The falling would now be on my part! I'm horrible at balance when I'm on the treadmill and running in general kills my ankle. So, unfortunately that won't work. But, I did try something different today, I began with 10 minutes on the Elliptical and that got my heart rate up enough that when I did the treadmill next I had no problem getting my heart rate up! So, at least I'm mixing it up a bit - I've been getting kind of bored withe the usual. Thanks for the suggestion though Tracy, I appreciate it!

I spent most of the day doing errands, and between getting in and out of the car at each stop, and walking around, I'm exhausted.  I had hoped to get to the rec center today for armbike, but by 2 PM I was whipped.  I'm walking a bit differently from usual because I'm trying not to stress my healing thigh area by having it shear anything.  By the time it is healed,  I'll need a hip replacement from all the wonky walking.  I don't usually go to Target, but I had to check out something for my sibling.  There's a huge SuperTarget at the nearby mall, so I stopped over there.  They had an electric shopping cart, so I used it since that particular store is bigger than Rhode Island.  The cart was so slow I could have walked faster backwards.  Lord, it was boring.  I hope never to have to go back there. I needed a lamp for my bedroom, so I went to Goodwill and ARC thrift stores.  Both places wanted retail prices for junk!  Who do they think they are, Neiman-Marcus? I ended up going to Wally's and getting a perfectly decent torch-style lamp for $8. If wonky walking and lots of driving (and gear shifting) count as exercise, then I did exercise today.  I'll really be glad when I can resume treadmill -- I notice the difference in my knees and also my stamina since I've not been able to do treadmill. I kicked my own butt yesterday!  The consultant that did my metabolic assessment suggested that, in order to see continued improvement to my overall fitness and my cardiovascular health, I need to start working out in a variety of target cardio zones.  So yesterday I did 50 minutes on the elliptical trainer: during the first 20 minutes I stayed in my "base" cardio zone of 125-130 BPM, then I did 25 minutes of interval training (2-3 minutes of heart rate at "top" cardio zone of 155-165 BPM, followed by 2 minutes of "recovery" time in my "base" cardio zone.  you repeat that sequence for the desired time [for me, it was 25 minutes]).  I'm only supposed to do this particular workout once a week - thank goodness, because I was whooped by the time I finished!  The consultant suggested that on the day following this more intense workout that I just stick to my base cardio zone for the entire workout.  That'll feel like a breeze compared to yesterday's workout!   Anyway, probably more information than you all want, but I thought I'd share what I'm doing to try and keep myself moving forward!  Good luck to everyone finding time and motivation to move it today -  Kellie

Where'd you get your assessment!  Sounds like it provided a lot of real good information. I should try to find out who does the assessments around here.   And, yeah, your session yesterday does sound kick-butt!
