I am so excited and blessed about my weight loss. I know it is gone for good and I am so happy. But I can't help but feel compelled to think I am doing something wrong. I am 8 weeks out today and am down 43 pounds. Most of which was lost the first 4 weeks. I have been in a tremendous stall for almost a month - but have lost over 12 inches around my entire body during the stall - so I know I am still shrinking. I guess I am just wondering if it's going to work anymore for me. I have 197 pounds left to lose and am afraid it's just not going to come off.  Do stalls last this long usually this newly post-op? And with the higher BMI shouldn't I lose a little faster? I guess I am just terrified the losing is over. I want to cry just thinking about it.  Thanks enough for caring and sharing. Jen

Hi there,  I just want to let you know that 43 pounds in 8 weeks is wonderful, you are really doing a great job . Take it from experience the stalls will happen. My first 3 months I lost 63 pounds I was so upset because I was reading about other people who started out at my size who had lost almost 100 pounds at 3 months out. I have learn that we are all different and lose weight in our own time. You can ask anyone on this board I was crying an upset all the time. I just reached on year out a couple of days ago and I am currently down 156 pounds in 12 months. You are right were I was and you will do just fine. I know it hard to see but it will come. I still have 99 more pounds to go but I tell you what if it takes me another year to get it off thats fine I am not in a race with anyone and neither are you. Keep your head up and smile because  you have taken a wonderful step towards better health. If you aren't exerciseing then it is time to start.  Lorraine

Congratulations on your loss.  I know stalls can be scary--and we always compare ourselves even when we know not to.  Don't worry.  Keep doing what you know you should and the weight will continue to come off.  Try to focus on behavior goals--I ate what I planned to and nothing more, I exercised, I got in my water, I took my vitamins, etc.--instead of pounds.  You can control your behavior while you can't control the scales.   I'm sure you'll do great, Sally 398/178/180

Hi Jen! I feel for ya, I was at the exact same place you are at right now, just 8 months ago. I had my surgery, lost 30 pounds in the first 2 weeks, then nothing for over a month. Not a single pound... it was so frustrating! I stopped weighing myself for the next month I was so upset. I was POSITIVE I was going to be the one person who was not going to lose any weight! (it sounds like you have said the exact same thing, so you aren't alone!) After those first 2 months I have lost pretty steadily - I'm 8 months out and have lost 154 pounds. Just let your body catch up and don't get too upset about stalls, especially this soon out. It happens to all of us (I can't tell you how often I have heard people say they stalled at the very beginning and how it freaked them out). Keep your head up and don't give up! It will all work out in the end. Hugs Pam

OH MAN, do I know what your going thru, I too didn't lose anything that 2nd month, I left my surgeons office in tears, but here I am 16 months later, and down 217lbs..It will happen for you too. Just hang in there, this is a great place to get support. Lynn

Jenny, I stalled at 8 weeks after losing 86 lbs.  I was a basket case.  I had to see my surgeon and it took him 30 minutes to calm me down and to explain that this happens.  I am on my second stall that has lasted 6 weeks.  The scale will move.  Your body has to catch up with itself.  You are doing wonderful.  It is so normal to feel like you are doing wrong.  At 11 months out I still ask did I even have anything done, but where can you have lost 43 lbs in 4 weeks.  Think about 1 year ago and where you were.  The weight will come off.  You are doing great, keep on going girl. Hi Jen! I also stalled for three weeks early on after surgery.  It happens to some of us.  I know it is frustrating but try not to worry too much about it.  It is normal.  Your body is playing catch-up right now and the scale will get moving again soon enough.  You're doing an awesome job - 43 pounds gone for good!  Hugs, Tracy
