Stalling

I have been bouncing back and forth between 287.2 and 288.4 for over a week.  I consider that a stall. I tried figuring it out in my head. Then I went to check my fitday history. I thought it had only been a week or two since I worked out on a consistent basis......WRONG. The last time I worked out 5x a week was MARCH 23rd....UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!! I can't believe it has been over a month. I have been 1 or 2x a week. Even today before I looked at my fitday, I was going to pass on the work out and had convinced myself that I would start fresh on Monday. NO!!! I started today. It was hard but I did it...45 minutes...30 on the bike and 15 on the eliptical.  Did I mention that I have been constipated as well and that has to do with my lack of exercise. I need to drink plenty of water and work out at least 5x a week to stay regular. If I am not regular. I stop loosing and I am in pain in the bottom of my stomach.  I feel like I am starting all over.  It is so strange how some people can lose with just eating right. With me I guess since I trained my body from the start to expect the workouts and eating right, my pouch now requires it to work for me. I have to tell you guys I don't want to work out everyday, but I do want to lose weight everyday. Life is about choices.....DAMN!!! Hopefully by Monday weigh in I will loose something. I wanna be down to 280 by My B-day on May 4th. Gotta get focused.

I know I don't lose if I don't exercise.  I'll be curious to see how my weight loss goes during the week or so that I can't go to the rec center. My stalls are a lot longer than yours -- I spent an entire month at the same weight, then all of a sudden a bunch of weight started coming off.  It's hard to predict how the body works, and I've learned that my body is always the boss!  Hard to believe May 4th is next week (it still feels like the beginning of the year to me).  You might just make your goal by then, but if you don't, try not to beat yourself up.  As long as you are losing, even a pound lost is a good thing! Hi Tricie, When I slow down on my exercise, my weight loss really slows to a pound or two a week, but when I do exercise, it is closer to 4 or 5 pounds per week.  It's really important to set aside that time, plus it builds those good habits in us of moving and exercising and building muscle.   I know that I dropped 10 lbs really fast, after it taking almost 3 weeks to drop 8 lbs, so sometimes our body just needs more time to adjust.  The last couple of days, I've been stuck at the same weight - usually I see at least a slight drop in the numbers from day to day, and I know when that happens to try and eat more protein and drink more. I haven't had any constipation issues except when I went on the road trip with my daughters and friend.  I wasn't exercising and moving around very much, and I was having issues.  Every day after swimming, I have to GO!  The movement of our bodies helps our insides too.  Also, I like to put some flaxseed into my yogurt at breakfast to help out also. I want to be below 280 when I get on a cruise ship next Tuesday - so I have a similar goal!  I already checked out the ship, and they have a large indoor exercise pool for laps, jogging or aquafit! I really don't want a seat belt extension when I fly home either, so I need to make sure to eat right on the ship and take my protein supplements with me. Keep up the good work

Well I hate to say it but I know were you are coming from. I for one have been working out since my doctor said GO!!!! when I don't get a good workout in I don't lose. Now I work out and still don't lose but I think after 11 months of no stall one is in order for me so I will try and stop complaining. You are still early out and i don't think this is a true stall I think your body is just use to working out and needs that to release more weight.  Keep working out don't ever ever ever stop you will notice it in your body one of these days if you just stay on course. Girl I know it is hard I didn't want to get up this morning myself becasue I love to sleep in the last few days have been HARD!!!! do ya hear me HARD!!!! but a lady and I was talking and she said you inspire me to keep going and I was like really???? You see people use us as there motivation and that is enough motivation to help me get up. Find something that will help you get past the I DON'T WANT TO GO!!! it will help.  Lorraine

Hi Tricie, I am not so sure that your stall has anything to do you not exercising.  Like, Lorraine, I exercised hard core right from the beginning without stopping and I hit a stall right at my three month mark (no scale movement for three weeks!!!) and a plateau at about a year out (no loss for almost three months!!!).  And I was exercising and eating right the entire time.  You are right around three months, and that happens to be exactly when I hit my first stall. So I think that some people simply stall out periodically because their body need to catch up. Congrats on getting back into the exercise groove.  The nice thing about working out is that even if the scale is not moving, you will still lose inches if you work out. Hugs, Tracy

Tracy, You and I will be at our 2 year mark at the same time.  We share a surgery day.  Did you ever get to the goal you wanted?  I never did.  I wanted to get to 199, but hover in the 240+ area. Yesterday,  a guy I know sent me and a bunch of other people an article on exercise, eating right and how computer jobs are such a big cause of obesity.  He wrote that "you may not agree with everything on this, but, it makes you think."  I wrote back to him that I'm a true believer in all the article said and that I'm living proof that a life with consistent exercise gives great results.  I said "I'm living proof".  He wrote back, "I hope you stay proof."  Wow, hit me hard!  I'm sure he did not mean to hurt my feelings, it is just that he touched on a deep fear of mine that I might ultimately fail at this. I CAN"T FAIL!  I'm so happy I have all of you! Lori

Hi Lori, happy anniversary in advance!  No, I never made it to goal either - goal was 135.  I am 5'2" with a small frame so 135 is reasonable.  Now my weight bounces around the low to mid 160's.  I got down to 158 one day for like an hour, but have not seen it since.  I am about 25-30 pounds away from goal.  I have decided that what I cannot lose through diet and exercise, I am going to have lipo'd off.  Seriously, I see aggressive lipo in my future because these last pounds are being very, very, very stubborn. Anyway, did that guy email the article, If so, I would be interested in reading it if you would not mind forwarding it to me.  My email address is [email protected].  Anyway, you WILL NOT fail and neither will I.  Failure is falling and refusing to pick yourself up.  So even if we slip and fall at some point, I know we are both fighters and we will dust ourselves off, learn from the experience and get back in the saddle! Hugs, Tracy P.S.  No offense, but I think that guy was rude.  I am sure he did not mean to be rude, but there are so many better ways to encourage you to keep on being successful.

Tracy, The thing about this guy is that he is known for usually saying the wrong things to people, he is a computer programmer and very socially inept.  He also has put on quite a bit of weight himself in the last few months since his wife (my friend) died of breast cancer last October.  I guess that is why I'm cutting him some slack. Thanks for the words of encouragement.  It helps! I have emailed the link to the article to you. Lori

Tricie, I forgot to mention that to combat irregularity issues, I take 2 tablespoons of benefiber each day.  It has no taste and dissolves completely in beverages or soft foods.  I highly recommend it! Lori

With the Benefiber do you have a bowel movement everyday? If I drink an ocean full of water and work out I will have a BM maybe 3x a week. I want to be more regular than that. The days I don't have a BM, the bottom of my stomach is real heavy feeling
