All Done -- I'm Home!

Already?!  They don't fool around in outpatient surgery, that's for sure. Things went well.  I checked in at the hospital around 5:30 AM and we were ready to go shortly after my scheduled time of  7:30 AM.  I woke up with a tube in my throat, which came out right away, and  a drain attached to my leg.  I've never had a drain before, so I could use pointers on how to live with it. Anyway, Blobby weighed two pounds, and everyone at the hospital was quite complimentary about my weight loss.  The surgeon did a fine job and the anesthesiologist was a hoot, as usual,   We were swapping puns in the OR. Since I'm kind of stoned right now, I'll sign off, but I wanted to let everyone know that at least so far, I'm fine and all is well. Kix

Hi, Annie! Sorry for the mystery, I guess you weren't here during my ongoing cellulitis drama.  I've had six bouts of cellulitis in one particular area on my right thigh since 11/05.  The area was a big mass of hard skin and watery adipose tissue that felt kind of like having a basketball attached to the back of my thigh (right near the knee).  The docs thought it kept getting infected because the medication couldn't get into the area.  This big blob (hence the name Blobby) often got in the way, and if I pulled the skin enough to tear, it would get infected.  I had an acute cellulitis flare-up at Christmas, and at that time, my doc said, "Enough, let's see about getting that hunk of skin removed." So, today was my Blobby-ectomy.  I can't believe a person can have surgery and go home two hours later.  My brain feels a bit scrambled, but other than that, I feel fine.  Of course, once the good pain meds wear off, I might be singing a different tune.  Kix

Glad you are home Kix!  Sounds like everything went well, and hopefully all recovery will be easy.  I didn't have a drain coming home, so I don't know what to tell you about that. Happy Free Blobby Day!
