HUGS MARGE

Karma....What would life be without it? 250lbs gone! 410/160... Life's sweet!
Marge. my sibling had her kitchen remodeled the summer of 2005, and since I was home all day, I got to listen to all the hammering, sawing, drilling, etc. It was really annoying, but worth it in the end. The new kitchen is much nicer than her old ratty one.
I'm not superstitious. I had a very good Friday the 13th today. I was able to go get my CO driver's license today. The entire transaction took only five minutes since I didn't have to take a driving or written test. However, the employees at the DMV are so terrible that I had to wait 45 minutes to be served. I was one of the first ten people in line this morning, too. After Wednesday's horror of having to wait hours and hours, we decided to get there really early this morning. We arrived around 7:30ish and chatted with others in line, including three Hispanic guys from Santa Ana, CA (Southern Cal), with whom I spoke in my really bad Spanish. They were very kind and didn't make fun of me (at least not to my face, once I left, they probably laughed themselves sick!
)
Colorado is a bit paranoid with regard to driver's licenses and legal documents, so I came prepared with my birth certificate, my passport, my California driver's license, and a second copy of my birth certificate in case the first copy wasn't good enough (I was born in Utah, and Utah issues not only a certified copy of one's birth--and when you're as old as me, it's on papyrus paper-- along with a neat laminated wallet-sized card certifying one's birth). I'm glad I took all those documents with me -- I watched people ahead of me get jammed up because their legal names weren't identical on all their documents, or they didn't have adequate proof of identity, etc.
I plan to send a nastygram to our newly elected governor regarding the sorry state of affairs at the DMV. There is no reason to have 23 windows available and only two employees working the windows. When I worked in public health, I could have gotten 1500 seniors immunized at a mass flu clinic in the time it took me to get my driver's license this morning. They should hire me to streamline their process!
