Blobby Pre-Op Appointment

Most of you are aware of my ongoing issues concerning the big blob of skin and adipose tissue (medical jargon for FAT) I have on my right thigh.  The skin is compromised and it gets infected so much that I'm on a daily Keflex regimen to keep things quiet.  Blobby is scheduled to be removed on 4/25. I had my pre-op checkup and pre-op consult with the surgeon today.  The pre-op checkup didn't take as long as I thought it would because the EKG I had done in January and the six month WLS bloodwork done in February showed all is well.  The NP checked my heart and lungs, looked down my throat, and pronounced me fit for surgery. The nicer part is the pre-op consult with the surgeon.  He says if things go well, he can do this on an outpatient basis, and I won't have to be admitted to the hospital.  Or, if I need to be admitted, it would just be overnight.  Yay!  He was the one that had all sorts of concerns the first time I met him, but I guess he has either worked through them or is convinced I'm healthy enough to not die on him.  He also had nice things to say about my weight loss. I feel much better about the surgeon now, and am looking forward to two weeks from today! Kix

YAY Kix! You are one step closer to being free from your weight.  I'm sure that you will feel much better after this is done, and you won't have to be on antibiotics all the time.

Great news on the "bye, bye Blobby" front!  I'm glad your surgeon's concerns seem to be less than they were originally - hopefully that's a sign that your surgery will be uneventful.  It would be great if it can be done on a outpatient basis -  Will keep you and Blobby in my thoughts and prayers for the next couple weeks...
