Topic: X-Post- Excess Skin Removal...APPROVED!!!!!

Just out of the mailbox...

Excess skin removal from hips, legs and thighs...APPROVED!!!!!!

I've got until the end of January to work out the kink of getting another surgeon on board.   I got a letter this week from the original surgeon, saying that he's retiring December 31st.  Tried to convince him to make me me his absolute last pateint...no luck.

If I can't find another surgeon, I'll be living with the skin.  This was the eighth time I've attempted this, and I absolutely cannot go through this again, if this doesn't work out.

For some reason my body seems to be rejecting.. having adverse affects from vits. b12 makes me groggy and sleepy. I now take it at night to help me sleep. Amino makes me tired. I can't eat sugar or drink sugary drinks as it causes me to literally go into a short coma. I get lightheaded and my inside my body gets warm like i am getting ill. I lost my insurance about 3yrs ago.. i used to get b12 shots.. now i just do the 5000mcg of sublingual b12 and 2 prenatal vits..

uuuugh....

Topic: Dilemmas and Hope

Hello all. I am trying to revise from a failed RNY to a DS. I have started the process with a very reputable surgeon, but his surgeon's fee is way more than I can afford. In fact, I was told that it could range from $5,000-12,000 out of pocket because he chooses to bill through a 3rd party. Also, I will have even more out of pocket expenses because of him being out of network (which is weird because he is in network). At any rate, he is a top notch surgeon and, while he is worthy of his wages, I cannot afford to pay that kind of money out of pocket let alone up front.

So, now I am leaning towards a reputable surgeon in New Jersey. I have a phone consultation with him later on this month and was told that I would have to pay $250 to cover the cost of meal replacement shakes before surgery. I am at am impasse and feel somewhat defeated, even though that defeat could be anxiety. At any rate, I must now get in contact with my PCP so that I can begin the six months of supervised diet. This will give me time to get myself together to push through.

Topic: RE: Revision Surgeries?

MsSexxc74, congratulations on your new journey. How are you doing? I am still in the early stages of my revision and would like to know what I can expect. I see you had Distal RNY in 2000. Is that like the BPD? I had a surgeon suggest that, but I would rather have the DS because of the long term results.

Lady Amaretto, I am definitely keeping the faith and I am doing what is best for me. People really don't understand how bad obesity is; so just imagine being, in my case, morbidly obese. People around me say they will exercise with me and help me so that I won't have to have another surgery, but if that hasn't happened in the 6 years since I had RNY, then why would it happen now?
