Topic: RE: Haven't had a lap band fill in 3 years and gaining weight

I had the band for 5 yrs and had it removed 5 months ago.  This was one of the reasons why I decided to get rid of it. I was gaining weight with the band and having horrible reflux and other issues whenever I got a fill. It was doing more harm than good. I am scheduled to talk with my surgeon soon about RNY.

I think Buffalo fish, Catfish and Perch fried in cornmeal fall into the soul food category, you can even bake or broil Catfish if you want to,  Whiting is good either fried or baked, too.  I also grew fond of Gar when I was living in Wisconsin many years ago, and fresh off the boat Redfish and  shrimp when I lived in Louisiana.

Topic: RE: 13 Weeks out finding myself drinking wine everyday

I have been  2 years out from my gastric sleeve and I experienced this as well mainly because I just did not want to bother with eating. I did catch this early and I stopped buying wine to go to my house. I increased my protein and started working out more. I also had this discussion with other weight loss patients so I didn't feel like I was crazy..Pray and walk ...Your not alone with this issue but the first thing you have to do is stop buying the wine for a little bit. Now I can safely buy wine and it does not phase me it sits around for months now. So don't beat yourself up, and don't let it scare you tackle it head on.

Topic: RE: Hair Loss

I'am African American and yes you can experience hair loss. The trick to this is to stay consistent with your vitamins I take 10,000 MG of Biotin everyday. It keeps your hair and nails healthy it also gives you energy throughout the day. You should also take your multivitamins everyday as well. I have been out 2 years it doesn't matter if you are black or white you will loose your hair if you don't take vitamins. I hope this helps

Topic: RE: Soul Food???

I'll be honest with you I don't have the craving for soul food like I used to. Mainly because if its cooked properly its way to rich like macroni and cheese the noodles are to dense and to much is cheese is bothersome. I will eat collard greens but very little. I still eat turkey if its nice and tender. The food I love the most now is seafood, i eat it like crazy. I have been 2 years out seafood allows me to keep my weight down and I don't have issues after eating it. i hope this helps.

Thank you, I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. I am refusing to leave his office until I get some answers, even if it means exploritory surgery.

I also will be following up with my primary Dr.
