RNY all the way!
I'm 7 yrs post-op from RNY and I'm soooo thankful that I chose that route. I too had diabetes (type 2), and high blood pressure. The day of my RNY surgery, I was told to stop taking my meds because I wouldn't need them anymore. My diabetes is gone, and so is my high blood pressure. NO MORE MEDS!!!
Do what is best for you though. You can get all of our opinions, but what it comes down to is, what is best for YOU. We are all different, different situations, different body types, different lifestyles, and different needs. Just do what is best for you.
I wish you luck on your weight loss quest.

Greetings,
I am 7 yrs post-op from having gastric bypass surgery (RNY). I never regret having the surgery and the joys it's brought me. I'm healthier (no more diabetes/high blood pressure), I'm happier, and love life so much more.
If your weight is causing you a lot of health problems as it did me, and you have tried everything else to lose the weight, but have not been successful over the years, seriously think of the surgery. I was 281 lbs at my heaviest, now I'm 175 (5'10").
Check out my before/after pics. The proof is in the pictures.
I wish you the best on your journey (if the surgery is the path you choose).
Stay blessed and always encouraged!

I had arm reduction
surgery and found I have to put deodorant over more of my underarm area than I used to. I guess they moved my sweat glands.
Congratulations on your journey. I've been on my journey since 2013. I was on the fence about getting the surgery done so I flamed out of my program. After a death in the family I'm back in the program. Here in Michigan with my insurance my insurance waives the 6 month diet requirement due to my BMI being over 50. I just had my consultation with my surgeon and it went great. I'm 18 pounds down since I joined the program back on 7/21/15. My surgeon told me I didn't need to lose any more weight. So now I'm just waiting for the head nurse to schedule my medical clearance appointment. My surgery is probably going down the september. Congratulations to you on your journey. Keep strong!!
Hi i'm a newbie i've been thinking about bypass but i'm nervous i hope by joing this forum i can meet people who had it done and can help me over come this terror that i am going thru. I am in the pre surgery stages i haven't met the doctor that will be doing the surgery that appointment in Oct 2015 and then i have to meet all the requirements from my insurance. Thank you in advance for helping a sista
I've found that taking fiber supplements or getting enough fiber throughout the day makes big difference. I'm pre-op but used to have the same problem; 3-4 BM's a day. Now I have 1 maybe 2 firms BM's a day. What have u don't to fix this or what does your Dr say?
Sleeved: 12/17/15
HW: 284 lbs. SW: 266 lbs.
CW: 251 lbs. GW: 140 lbs.
Thanks Dove, One program is saying to do a 30 day pre-op liquid diet and the other one I've looked into is saying a 2 week high protein diet food diet. I would probably weigh 195 too after I do a 30 day liquid diet. How have you been doing since having the RNY? and were you diabetic?
I have so much access skin, from my weigh loss, which caused me to perspire more and the smell just festered under all the skin. It left me a little musky/musty in the under arm area which seeped onto my clothes. I started using clinical strength deodorant, powder between my thigh groin area, washed all my clothes after every wear instead of every 3 wears, or sent them to the cleaners. I don't have nor have I heard anyone mention my personal hygiene in a really long time. I hope this helps.
