Congratulations RaeRae1on your new joy!  Adjusting to being a new mom, working, family, sleeping.....etc...can be a challenge trying to balance it all.  One of the great things you can do is just get your body in motion again.  Start just by walking each day to burn up some calories to get back into shape.  Increase your dsitance a little further each time.  It can be some great bonding time for you and the little one also.  Stay hydrated!  If your breastfeeding your nutritional needs are very important for you and your baby, so check with your doc about how many calories you should be taking in.

Best wishes to you.

Good Morning.  I am a little over 3 weeks post op and since surgery I've lost only 13 lbs.  Isn't that a little slow?  What do you all think?   I'm starting to get a little worried.

Where do I even start?

Had Gastric Bypass on August 11, 2008..Lost over 90 pounds...

Had my baby March 28, 2012...EXTREMELY HAPPY..however...

I'M FAT AGAIN!!  Not doing what I'm suppose to do AT ALL.  So...

I'm back here for inspiration, encouragement, and a BUTT whooping!!

I know what I need to do...It's time for me to do it....

Topic: RE: Changes in Relationships Post-Op
Hey girl don't get it twisted me and my hubby has had major issues in our relationship in the past, but we got threw it! I believe what kept us together was our friendship, and our partnership. Regardless of what we have went threw we have always had each other back, so I think that is what keeps us grounded!! So this journey that I am on is just another obstacle that we are going threw, and he has my back!! I also know that nobody will love me and have my back like my husband would, even though he has messed up in the past. I really wish you luck, and you have to do what is best for you, because you definitely do not want to put your self back where you was at...as far as eating and using food as a coping mechanisim! Hnag in there my sistah, this journey will open your eyes to things that you never knew about your self and the people around you!!

Thanks for the responses. My concerns is that I stayed in the relationship because it was "safe." We were used to each other. However, after all of this time, I am convinced that the only thing that we've done is make each other miserable. And I'm sure I hid behind the food..Whenever we would argue, I would eat..Now that I've had the surgery, I'm using other means to cope instead of food.  On one side I am being reborn with my new lease on life...on the other side, I feel like I'm mourning a dead relationship.

BBQ  -  BAR B QUE  -  BARBEQUE   -   HOW EVER YOU SPELL THE WORD, IT CAN WORK PRE OP AND POST OP FOR VIRTUALLY ALL BUT THOSE OF US ON PUREE OR LIQUIDS.

Protein first and that's what's on the grill.  Totally awesome isn't it!  HOWEVER, leave the sugar coated sauces alone and enjoy nicely grilled meats with good seasonings instead.

-  Bring your stash of MrsDash if you need to (rhyme totally unintended there, lol.
-  Skip the mayo based salads with all the starch like potato, macaroni, and the sugar loaded cold slaw.  Look for the greener items or the veggie type salads.
-  Bring a wl friendly dish everyone will love.  I blanch till tender then dice the stalks of cauliflower for no-tato salad.  Same potato salad recipe with light mayo and no potatos.  Everywhere I've brought it folks tear it up.  Kids love it too just don't tell them its all veg.
-  Same for deserts.  A pudding/jello/cool whip trifle all sugar free and served extra cold after popping it in the freezer for a bit can work for everybody.

We can eat, drink, and enjoy during this process.  We will struggle to let go of our dependence on the need to eat what we agree accustomed to eating.  Let's declare this our personal independence day week from old summer outing habits.  Time to create new habits of fun, games, lesser focus on foods, and better summer fun menus for our lifetime.

Relax and enjoy the holiday!
