Hi Family
I am still alive, still fat, still struggling, still working out, still pumping up, still the same in other words.
Thanks so much for the info! I will check out that snail serum. I have some hyperpigmentation on my face from sun damage, from forgetting my sunscreen, so I hope it will work well on that.
You have beautiful skin!

Today makes 6 months since by RNY. I celebrated my 41st birthday in the dark as a result of Hurricane Sandy this week and I am 87 pounds lighter. I believe I stalled over the last week or two. That's ok. Life is still good. My motto for the next 6 months: Enjoy life.
I tried a BodyPump class at the gym. Apparently it is an aerobic weight-lifting class. What a workout, y'all!!! I even took an aqua Zumba class.
I have no regrets about having had the surgery. Yes, I can still barely eat. I eat to survive and for nourishment. I am off some of my medications (diabetes, blood pressure, gout). I have stopped snoring according to some people. I don't use the C-pap machine anymore.
Life is now about finding out who I am and trying out new things. Enjoy life and all it has to offer.
Participating all day in the most awesome fundraiser in art and cloth... and what a better way to help some friends and neighbors struggling after the storm... I am glad that every little bit counts and we were able to assist a few families in need auctioning off some awesome pieces of our talents...
.. now my feet are tired ... off to a hot meal a hot bath and to bed ... I sewed/altered/fitted/wrapped/painted and sketched all.day.long ... now my eyes are tired and I am looking drawn BUT my heart is so content the feeling is exhilarating... and I forgot to eat ... but I am about to have an awesome warm meal prepared by my awesome DH who can at times be a royal PITA LOL...
Some pics ... because I love art and I love cloth and I love love love Africa as much as I love America my adopted country and Panamá my land of origin... my awesome gowns are gifts from Africa motherland bought to me by my friend Fatu ... whenever she comes back from Africa it is a festivity in cloth ... for me and for others ... what an AWESOME and fulfilling day....
Back home at last...
and having a hard time with my wrap on my short cropped hair... so I'm gonna wear it around my waist and play it safe...
Thanks for allowing me to share another goofy thread .. the second one today .... off my soapbox and taking a hot shower and going to bed ... enough picture aw'ing for a day LOL .... I am just so happy we raised enough to help others out ... because we are keepers one of another and every little bit counts ... I am happy I was able to use my goofy talent to help my friends out a little bit...
I'm so sorry for your plight. There is likely no relationship between the two. WLS or any type of cancer. There are many folks on OH who unfortunately developed various cancers post op. I am an expert on nothing but I will keep you in my prayers for a full recovery. Be strong, keep the Faith, stay as healthy as you can as you are being treated for the best chance of success. One of my RNY friends recently beat cancer. You will too.

I believe lifestyle and our notion of acceptable size contribute to the differences seen in studies. Many of us concern ourselves with the idea of loosing too much weight or looking sickly before we are anywhere near a normal bmi. It is a post I have read over and over on BAF. Other folks often believe you can't be too thin.
Frequently I search for both current and older wls research papers. I have yet to read a statistically valid, medically reviewed, double blind study that points to any race only based disparity in wls results. Disparities in results have reflected metabolic issues and habits although many lifestyle habits may be common among a given race. There are racial differences in muscle density which will be reflected in bmi when comparing whites, Asian, and Black people. But, if we stick with our respective plans we loose the fat.
The exception may b the wrong surgery for the root causes of your obesity. Review every procedure available and relate each to your personal lifestyle, dysfunctional food behaviors, and tolerance for the negative aspects. Finding the procedure with the right fit for you will be your greatest chance for success regardless of race.
