V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I had the ds about two years ago and experienced major hair loss despite increasing my biotin and protein intake. I was natural at the time of surgery (and have been off and on since I was a kid) and had about a 4a type curl pattern - at points in time we referred to it as the "super fro". The surgery affected my hair almost like chemotherapy - it grew in very fine and wispy and the curl was very loose and the top was totally straight. I have found that using regular and black jamaican castor oil has helped thicken it up but there is little I can do about the new texture. It would probably be cool if I wore a relaxer but I prefer my hair natural. I found that sew ins have helped it rest while Im growing it back ...I'm gonna try some braids this summer - my hair was so fine before I was afraid it would be too much.
Thanks, my dr. has prescribed my Qsymia (phentermine/topamax) I'll let you know how it goes.
But seriously folks, half our continued struggles may be head related. I know my eating had declined in many respects as my weight declined. Were I as careful as I was about food years ago, perhaps I would not be such a fkcu up now. BIG SIGH!

HI Tamiasmom...........and welcome to BAF. I'm about about 3.5 years post op, and from the first information session to approval was only about 6 weeks! A lot of things fell into place, and I think I was at the right place at the right time. But it took another three months to get on my docs schedule for the procedure because he took an extended vacation out the country. That was the longest three months too! So I guess it really will depend upon your individual situation.
Best wishes on your weight loss journey.
