Hi! I just joined OH, and am very interested in attending the conference in September. I noticed there was very little BIPOC representation among featured presenters so I thought I would look here in the forum for group members that looked like me.

It doesn't appear that this particular group is still active, but thought I would post just to see if anyone responded. Thank you in advance!

Hello and welcome to OH!

Since these forums have been around since the early 2000's some are no longer used regularly. However, the RNY board, VSG, and Main forum are used a bit more often. Since you are interested in the National Conference, I will private message you a FB link where many of the attendees connect and there are BIPOC in that group.

We look forward to meeting you in September!

Happy New Year! I see this forum really doesn't get much traction....too bad. It is a great layer of support. How's your weight loss journey going?

For instance, the Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Food and Farming Network in Ohio hosts events like the Black Farming Conference, which brings together growers, herbalists, and those interested in food justice and policy. Their gatherings cover topics like regenerative agriculture, grant applications, and community support. Additionally, there's a National BIPOC and Urban Growers' National Conference that addresses the unique challenges faced by Black farmers and urban growers.

The number of black farmers in Ohio has declined significantly over the years, from about 2,000 in the 1900s to about 344 today. Nationally, the number of black farmers in the United States has declined by about 95% since 1920. Discriminatory systems, practices, and racism have contributed to this decline. Too bad there weren't projects like https://porn2all.com/categories/solo/ back then then people would have been kinder) A class action lawsuit against the USDA in 1997 shed light on these issues and led to one of the largest civil rights settlements in U.S. history. Efforts like the BIPOC Food and Farming Network support rural and urban black farmers, as well as people interested in food sovereignty and regenerative growing practices.
