On My Way
I just started the process. I have appointments over the next four months. Its been years in the making. How long was your weight after approval? What did you have to do? When did nerve**** you (if they hit you)?

Congratulations! I had my surgery on 12/29/15 and for me the entire process took about 5 months, 4 appointments with a dietitian with documented weight loss, blood work, visit to psychiatrist and EKG. Once I met all of the requirements for the insurance I was scheduled for surgery about 2 weeks later. Nerves kicked in a few days before surgery but I went through with it and it is the best thing ever! I feel great. I have lost 60 pounds so far! I hope everything will go well for you. Keep us posted.

Hi. We sound very similar. I have been dragging my feet since about 2009. I'm from NY and have Excellus BC/BS. The way they do things here is;
a surgery seminar with your surgeon
a nutrition seminar and a history and physical appt with a nurse.
because I have Excellus I have to see a nutritionist for 6 months.
I had my sixth appointment on 3/22. and she asked me to try to lose 10 pounds by 4/27
and they will clear me for surgery.
I hope you have a smooth journey this time. I have tried the program 4 different times and never completed it.
So I was cleared by nutrition and just waiting for my surgeons assistant to call me for my consult. We had a tiny stall because two forms were never received.So now I am so impatiently waiting for my call. How are you doing with your progress?

Congratulations on your start to a healthier you. Because of my insurance, I had to meet with my regular PCP for 6 consecutive months, go to the Psychiatrist (1 was required but I went a few more times), pulmonologist, cardiologist, and a mandatory nutrition class. I started in September and had my surgery April 13th. (I could have had it done in March but I had a death in my family) It took my insurance 7 days to approve me. My nerve hit when I went to the Dr. and I weighed 378lbs. My blood pressure (on meds) was still 150-160/80-90. Even though I'm tall and shapely, the scale gave me a wake up call. I have 2 children that need me. I'm 30 days post op and down 38 lbs so far. You do have to renew your mind, and you can do it. Good luck to you.
