Weight gain
Great advice, dstgirl200, thanks for taking the time to break it down. It is not easy but the key is staying with it, the basics are my saving grace, small meals, protein, exercise and WATER, which I struggle with too. Grazing will get you everytime, eat at regular scheduled times, and identify every meal, track it in a food tracker if you have too, but be mindful of what goes into your mouth, both at meal time and IN between....its the in between that get most of us in trouble, we maybe just me. good luck sis...
What a great post dstgirl2000! I haven't been on OH in so long but decided to revisit today out of frustration from my recent weight gain. This weekend, I will be 7 years out and the weight is slowly creeping back on. Its sooo frustrating. A few weeks ago I had to break down and buy bigger sized clothes. Not fun at all. I can relate to so many things that you said. I definitely have a huge weakness with sweets and also snacking late at night. Seems like I'm the hungriest after 7 PM and all I want are sweet, sugary foods that we all know are no good. I know its wrong but I try to justify it by reminding myself how hard and often I work that I'm deserving of a little "emotional comfort". I've been somewhat embarrassed facing people that know about my WLS, but I suppose that's normal.
I'm going to follow your advice and really try to get back on the weight loss trail. Thanks so much for the detailed advice.
Thanks Solo_Dancer. I always hope that I can share something that can benefit others. We're all on this same boat trying to stay afloat. I've learned so much from other's experiences and tips from this site. I come back on often to read and catch up and contribute when I can.
You sound as if you're just uninspired at the moment, but you know how to make it work. For me, that's one of the difficult things to do is to just get started. I had to kick my a$$ in gear this week and make good on my promise to get in motion after procrastinating.... So I finally went with the ladies from work to a stretch and move class.....:-) That's all it was too, but it inspired me to take a walk the next day, and then to join a low impact Zumba class. I've felt so good this past week just for making the effort. Of course, I've seen no weight lose from it yet, but I know I will if I keep at it. So get your hiney up and out and just do a little something to get your inspiration going... I've cut out my snacking tooThat's tough!..............
Keep it moving!!........
JJ

HELLO!!!! STILL LOOKING GREAT I SEE!!! One day I am going to do it too!! I am still enjoying life but I want get under 300 pounds and then I will worry about the rest. Seeing you are still here and doing your thing and keeping that weight off is very inspiring too. I am going to reconnect and get under 300 pounds this year!! Thanks for sharing and inspiration!! Yes WE are all WORTH IT!! Keep up the good work!
I feel your pain Lady. I recommend doing whatever it takes to stop the weight gain right now. Because that weight can comes back faster than you will re-lose it. Take it from me.
Since October 2012 I have re-lost 31 pounds. I have had many ups and downs.
This January I said not more fooling around. I started back weighing myself everyday, eating protein 1st, eliminating processed foods as much as possible slowly but surely and same for carbs and sugar. Yes it is hard but I am doing it one day at a time. I have also started back seeking support. Faithfully sitting in on at least one telephone support group each month. There are a lot of Back on Track Programs out there too including a Back on Track Group here for free. Many of them cost money but they are effective if you are ready.
I have been working on the why's of why I am sabotaging myself and working on emotional eating too. The surgery did not fix our heads and actions. I also keep track of every morsel I put in my mouth. I use myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and exercise and I use them for support too.
Out of all the things I just said the ONE thing that I think helps me the MOST is MAKING myself step on the scale each and every day no matter what I ate. I need to see the gains so I can put a stop on binges. It is the ONE thing that I will remember when I go to eat the next bad bite. I have been doing this since March 11 and since then I have lost 11 pounds. I was 368 and now down to 357. I am in no hurry as long as I am trending down.
My goal this year is to get under 300 pounds no matter what. I had went all the way up to 388 and have been yo-yoing since 2010. But as I write this I know that is over for me!! I am going down baby. I don't care how many times I fall down, I am picking myself right back up and NEVER EVER giving up!! That is my 2nd best time is NEVER GIVE UP and know you can do it. But stop gaining right now because if you don't you will be sorry. Once you do that then just find you way and get help if you need it. Don't be afraid to be honest with YOU and others who can help you.
