I'm new to this forum and obesity help but I'm not new to feeling like. I ran out of all of my resources. I'm pre op awaiting my info session March 6th. Nervous but relieved that I'm finally eliminating
( excuse the pun) the pink elephant in the room. Can anyone estimate how long this process should take from start to surgery date? Thank you all!!

It took me about six months from my first meeting until my surgery date, but things were a lot different 7 years ago and we had to do a lot more to qualify back then.  I don't really know what is involved now a days, but it is probably somewhere around the same time length.  You should inquire when you go to your first meeting.

Sorry the board is so dead, but feel free to post your questions and we will get to them as time permits.    So what surgery are you looking at getting RNY, DS, Sleeve?

I'm looking into gastric banding aka lap band surgery.  I need a swift recover because I only get two weeks off per year. Also it's less invasive. The down side is that it's high maintenance but ill adjust.

HI Tamiasmom...........and welcome to BAF.  I'm about about 3.5 years post op, and from the first information session to approval was only about 6 weeks!  A lot of things fell into place, and I think I was at the right place at the right time.  But it took another three months to get on my docs schedule for the procedure because he took an extended vacation out the country.  That was the longest three months too!  So I guess it really will depend upon your individual situation.

Best wishes on your weight loss journey.

I am one week out. It really depends on your insurance as all have diffrent pre-requisites. My insurance too 3 months. I went to a preop class where some had been working on this for a year. I would either wait for ur appt or contact ur insurance

From info session with doc---I can't count because I put it off until my husband and I were of like-mind..... Took a health square to get into it. For all my specialists, and procedures it took 2 months due to different doctor's scheduling and assistants meandering through and taking their time until I showed up and waited until each office did as they were suppose to and got copies of everything In case a fax didn't go through I could drop it off to the required docs/offices/insurance company........ Once I got physically involved everything was done in 3 weeks to 3 1/2 weeks.

i have Cigna and it's open access.....
