Help! Can't stop scratching

I am now three weeks post op and have a major case of the itches and never in the same place .  Has anyone else had that problem?  There are times when I can't stop scratching. I am not on any pain medications.  I thought it was that at first.  Doesn't matter what I have or haven't eaten. 

I have that problem EVERYTIME i have ever been under anesthesia.. never really can figure out what causes it though...

 I had back to back surgeries ... the day after my RNY I was rushed to the OR again for another lengthy surgery due to major complication... the amount of anesthesia used between those two days took a while to get out of my system... at any given time I would start itching HORRIBLY ... the first it happened I was not even thinking to link it with the anesthesia post op ... it went on for weeks and a couple months even... I called my doctor and was given Benadryl.... It 'may be' post anesthesia reaction but do not take my word for it just in case you are having an allergic reaction to something .. I would suggest you contact your PCP or practitioner first...

I had a panniculectomy almost a year ago and I am still having the itchies around my incision area.  My doctor told me to put on eucerin itch formula after my daily shower but before drying off and he told me not to pack it on.  So I basically air dry daily.  No more itches as long as I do this every morning.  I have no idea how long I have to do this but I hope it helps.

Thanks everyone for you help.  I went and got some Benedryl gel and it seems to help.  Thank goodness.  Have an appointment with my primary soon and will let him know.
