ACCOUNTABILITY MISSION: NO MERCY AND NO EXCUSES

Note to self:  Food is not going out of style.

TELL THE WHOLE TRUTH AND BE ACCOUNTABLE:

Do you ever feel like you just won't get enough?  Do you ever have that "I've got to eat it all now." feeling? Do you fear an interruption in the space time continueum will suddenly make food obsolete?

The mind is powerful.  It can lead us to great high points and into the lowest depths of down below.  Where obesity is concerned, hitting bottom is far too easy.

Often we can feel it coming.  That is, the knowledge we are headed into an overeating danger zone.  Somehow, we just can't resist that pull.  We know all the pros and cons.  Making a list of them is of no value.  What we need is some positive force to pull us away from the edge of the abyss.

It does not matter where you are today.  If you have ever been obese you understand what I mean.  If you are filled with shame at the thought of this feeling you understand what I mean.  If you have never faced your personal experiences with this feeling you still understand what I mean.  I would put money on it that everyone on this site understands what I mean.  Or, they are here because they love someone and need to understand.

Finding that positive to pull ourselves back in the right direction is not easy.  At times it may seem impossible.  This is especially true when a series of negatives in life brought us to this point.  We CANNOT GIVE UP tyring.

Weight loss and looking good is not always enough to sway us.  If the only positive we can find is the understanding that we will feel good about having weathered the storm, then we must grab hold to it and not let go.  The positive we need will vary based on many factors.  That positive variable may vary throughout the day.  Find something.  Any shred to lift you up.  Pray; meditate; re focus your attention; speak kindly to yourself.

Address the issue that has brought you to this point.  Even if it is difficult or there is no viable solution, face it and deal with it emotionally.  You may have to cope with acceptance as you search for a way to change the cir****tances.

We know food won't fix things but this is intellect.  The struggle we face goes beyond logic.  Our personal solution to combating this irrational feeling must include the spiritual and emotional as well.

You told the truth and nothing but the truth.....Eating like there's no tomorrow. Having this surgery has open my eyes, I mean you can really hurt yourself scarfing down food your stomach can't hold or handle. I still eat with my eyes but its a good feeling knowing I can't take it pass a certain limit of obsession like the old Brandy.

This week I really focused on my eating without having a episode afterwards. This week its all about eating and water intake. I will hold myself accountable for my actions.

Thanks for the post..I really miss you:)

You're doing good MsThicklin.  Keep it going.

I miss my BAF time daily.  Especially when there are more active weeks like this one.  I'm working on getting things back to normal.

My advise to everyone  regardless of what stage you are in is to weigh and measure your food.  I still put virtually everything on the food scale when I am home or use measuring cups.  There is no fooling yourself with portion control.

As a newbie I was eyeballing everything too small.  As one gets frther out and can hold more the eyes will get bigger.  Hence, I keep the weigh/ measure habit as a standard.

When you measure you cannot over fill your stomach.  You know how much you should be eating at each stage of your plan so your total portion never exceeds this.  Eat very slow and chew very well.  You may find that you feel full or even over full suddenly.  By eating slowly you avoid trouble and create a good habit that helps you become satisfied on less over the long run.

On and off I've been struggling with apetite control.  Emotional eating.  Grazing.  Eating when I'm not hugry.  Eating according the "See Food Diet".  Etc, etc.

While I've been writing down what I eat, there has been little on line time to update tracker.   Even with my smart phone, I've got days upon days to catch up with.

Nonetheless
- seeing a list of everything that goes down this gullet makes a difference because I know when I'm approaching the danger zone
- I've been doing this long enough to know when my calories and protein are in or out of my target range

In spite of days where I've eaten as though I am aware of that comming interruption in space time that will eliminate food from the universe, yet leave me with it's memory, I avoid weight gain.  Balance is what it takes.  Overeat one day.  Work it off and cut back another.  In the extreme this is called binge and starve behavior.  Few obese people reach that extreme.  But, it is all part of the same "head game" behavior.

I'm doing better.  Pulling it together and trying to get myself back into my normal routine.  I've allowed stress and life's chaos to throw me into patterns that did not exist when I was physically obese.  (I will always be mentally obese.  )  I refuse to allow myself to fall furthere into dysfunctional eating.
