SMH...some people act like what their wls is better than any others lol heck as far as I'm concerned we all take some kinda of risk with any of the procedures...I would've love to crack his face.

Rely on your research and choose the surgery that is best for YOU.  We all know and hopefully understand how to maintain our health with whatever surgery we choose.  It's up to each and every one of us to take vitamins and eat healthy its a part of what we sign up for.........nuff said  How much weight has the good doctor gained back since 09?

Someone is always going to tell you how their WLS is better than another or how they "had a friend that had X surgery and then gained it all back or had complications.. blah blah blah."  The main board used to be infamous for people pushing their surgery and talking bad about others but in the end we have to do our own research and pick the surgery that is right for us.

I'm only almost 4 weeks out and really do love my RNY.  I've researched enough to know the pitfalls others have faced with RNY over time and I just hope that I can learn from their mistakes which will help me have great results in the long term.

Tell our doctor friend, well thanks for the advice and good luck on re-losing the weigh he has gained with his wonderful lapband.

other people's opinions good and bad are all part of the whole wls experience, what worked for you might not work for me, but i would never want to get to a point where i could not hear them, and it doesnt give people excuse to be harsh or mean under the cover of "given you the facts"  it sucks you had to hear it put that way.try not to take it personal ( i know its better said than done, but i still struggle with it (i sometimes take everything personal and the mix of weight loss and hormones dont help! buts thats just me, hang in there girl!

Even medical professionals are misinformed.  I find the older they are the less current they tend to be on the issues that interest me.  A younger internist rated among the "Top Docs" in the North East even told me that by ten years post op, most folks are right back where they started.

Get on pub med and search the recognized clinical studies.  This is where you wil ind the truth for both short and long term results of all surgery types.  RNY remains around 90% effective over the long term.  Neither you DrPatient or my former DrInternist can change the results of decades of research as procedures have evolved.

There will always be physicians against wls or certain procedures.  We just have to make sure thay are not our personal physicians.
