Hi Everyone.  I have completed all the appointments for my surgery.  I am now sitting and waiting for the date and approval from the surgery.  I'm on pins and needles.  I can't wait.

Once I get the date, I am going to start the liquid diet for two weeks.  My nutritionist recommended Beneprotein to increase my protein intake during this stage and post surgery.  Has anyone tried it?  I am trying out the different types of protein shakes now.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

ISOPURE are a popular protein shake.  They have both smoothie and juice flavors.  I am an extremely picky eater and have found three of their flavors tolerable.  Most Vitamin Shoppes, GNC and whole foods sell their products.  Also Amazon has better pricing for them.

Good luck to you as you start your journey!

Thanks. I will try the smoothie flavors.  I tried one or two of the juice flavors and wasn't too crazy about them.

I'm also picky when it comes to protein shakes and artificial sweeteners.
I like the Unjury unflavored protein as well as the chocolate.  I have also tried their strawberry, but didnt care for it over much.

I use the unflavored protein in cottage cheese and other foods with a relatively good stand alone flavor.  I dont use it in tea or water since I can taste the protein in milder items.

I hope you get your surgery date soon!!!  The waiting is so hard!

Muscle Milk?  Odd name for a protein drink.  I will have to try that one.  Thanks for your help.

I used body fortress at firt.  Its good quality, 100% whey, complete protein, and relatively inexpensive.  It did not take long to discover I could not use whey.  I switched to gnc soy, which I also could not use.  Then to healthy n fit nutritionals 100% egg white protein or jay robb egg protein.

Both are good quality, complete proteins, and reasonably priced.  I did not find the ready to drink tasted any better than the protein powder but it is a matterr of taste.

I only by vanilla now that I've learned it can be used to make any flavor I want.  Unsweetened cocoa powder for chocolate; a few drops of baking extracts for any number of flavors; drink mix singles for fruit flavored smoothies, etc.

Get samples packets or single cans until you find what you prefer.  Do not stock up before your surgery as taste often change post op.

I got samples of different proteins from different places online when I was pre-op. I had to do a 2 week liquid diet pre-op and then liquids again post-op and I still have a bunch of samples!

I like most of the syntrax nectar flavors, the unjury flavors are okay once you get past the smell (drink from the shakers bottle and you'll be fine). Can't remember what others I have tried.

Just do a search here on OH for protein samples and you'll find info on how to get free or inexpensive samples.
