Revision on 08/13/12
Im pre-op. and plan on having VSG mid April/ early May. pending insurance requirements. I am currently wearing mirco braids and will need to take them out soon. My question is should I realx it now or after surgery.
I don't think it matters. The only exception would be if you do it yourself and wa**** out in the shower. You do not want your wounds exposed to chemicals.

No prob. Now that the hair plan is underway prep the body mind & spirit for your wls. Please excuse the hijacking of your thread. There are a lot of newbies and pre ops around lately so this is for everyone.
Eat well with lots of protein to promote healing. Start siping water all day to clear yourself of toxins and stay hydrated. Take vitamins to get and stay nutritionally sound. Do what exercise your body can tolerate. Start thinking with the mind of a thin person: If I eat this perhaps I'll skip that or maybe eat half of what I would normally have of each. Consider what, besides a smaller size, you want to bring into your life...
You get my not very subtle point, I know you do. You don't need a pre op diet to start making changes. Start altering your way of living asap.
You'll do well and your hair will look good too .

it depends.. i had braids put in before the surgery and i was on my way to healing by the time i took them out, plus i was on sick leave so i was able to take my time and take them out. i also experienced getting dizzy when i put my head back in the sink at the hairdresser but that seemed to have gone away. if they are ready to come out i would take them out before the surgery.
