Hi!! I am new to this site.  I decided to have the bariatric surgery.  I am currently waiting for my doctor to write my letter of medical neccessity so I can get my surgery date.  I have so many questions not sure where to begin.  I want to start perparing myself for the surgery.  Does anyone have any ideas of how?

Thanks.  I am looking to have the gastric bypass.  I am ready to get it done but a little nervous at the same time.

Greetings newbie! I'm a newbie too! I had gastric bypass on 3/7/2012 just 7 days ago, it took me over a year to get to the surgery because of life happening and wondering if the surgery was really for me. Well, I am a non traditional student and one day when campus transportation came to take me across campus (I was to fat to walk) the driver asked me what was my handicap. I knew then I had to take charge of my life starting with changing how I eat and begin to focus on the things I was missing because of my eating, like walking across campus when I am blessed with two feet. It may seem like a little thing but it got me over the first hump. Find a motivator friend, and focus on one goal at a time. I'm having a mind battle now but with the help of my support group and members on this site success is on the horizion. Be blessed and move on to your new life and I'll meet you at the top!

Thanks for the advice.  I like the idea of a motivator friend.  Will definitely look for one.

Ask anything that comes to mind no matter how silly you may think it is.  Little questions.  Big questions.  Jokes.  Stories.  Current events.  We enjoy it all on BAF.

If I can give you one tip it is to start exercising now.  Even ten miutes a day walking in place is better than nothing.  If you are already exercising good for you.  Next I'd say start cutting back on the carbs annd getting more protein.  Protein promotes healing post op.

Last but not least, WELCOME!

Welcome! This is an awesome place to research, ask questions and get honest answers from those who've "been there done that" and those like yourself, who are at the beginning of their journey. I wish you health, wellness and of course, a little bit of sexiness!
