Hi...you are probably having "head hunger" ... your mind telling you you want to eat. I dont have a desire to eat..but I have to start getting my protein in according to my plan. My surgery was on the 5th. Only thing I can suggest is drinking water..make sure you are getting your sips in and try to take your mind off food..do some reading, go online..anything that can distract you. Sorry you are having these issues..but whatever you do, don't give in because you could cause yourself damage if you start taking in solids before its time.

Hey there,
Head hunger can be the worst thing to deal with at times. Occupy your time with something new that requires your focus and attention. I started crocheting when I had my band done....you wouldn't believe how many people got scarves and hats that year....come to think of it, I never did master gloves LOL!
I'm a firm believer in this board and seeking support when you feel you are not able to go it alone. The folks on here have been very welcoming to me and I'm loving checking in a reading/responding to the posts. Good luck to you on your new journey. As everyone else has said, it WILL get easier!

Not a damned thing is wrong with you. That is, nothing that's not also wrong with a great number of those who need wls. Even if they refuse to acknowledge this fact.
Compulsive overeating is common among obese people. What separates us from the skinny compulsive overeater (coe) is bulemics have a gag reflex. You want to eat because food serves a purpose greater than nutrition. Filling this void will not be easy.
In my siggy there is a link to related information through The Recovery Group. This site hosts a wls email loop for Overeaters Anonymous (OA) as well as twice weekly wls focused chatroom meetings. In addition, there are regular OA meetings every 3 hours seven days a week including holidays.
You do not have to buy into the OA twelve step philosophy to join. The only requirement is the desire to stop coe.
Many people with and without wls share your issues. To succeed with wls you have to own up to your need to keep feeding yourself and work at abstaining from the self destuctive behavior. You have acknowledged the problem and that is the most important step.
I claim expertise at nothing except being flawed. I have lost in the area of 130 lbs including the years before seriously considering wls. I wear a size 0 to a size 2 in most styles at the gap and old navy. I still have 20 lbs to loose as I am 13 lbs up right now and I want to loose a little extra so I fit the "goal jeans" I plan to fit for life.
Despite my size I also share your coe issue. I am a binge eater. It can be low cal to avoid weight gain or high cal followed by cutting back to keep my calorie average within range. My weight fluctuations are caused by metabolic issues and not coe. I have made a science out of how to over eat without having a calorie surplus because I know I am prone to sudden gains in body fat. How sick is that? Three years post op and generally maintaining. Yet, my eating behavior is at its worst ever.
Remember you are not alone. Hunger is more than physical or the "head hunger" folks talk about on the boards. It is complex, physical, spiritual, and emotional. All the best to you in finding your way out of this pattern of dysfunctional eating.

ditto everything above, not sure what surgery you had but be careful early out because you dont want to hurt your new tummy, there should be a class on just the mental issues we as formally obese people ( i used the word formally!) have to deal with, learn as much as you can about your surgery needs , or maybe you are really hungry, are you eating enough of the right foods and are you eating or drinking often enough, hope things are working out,
