Let it be known I absolutely had Low Carb diets,  I even call them Low Car High Anger diets because as soon as you stop eating sugar and bread you turn into a raging *****  LOL.

But, and I say But with my old big 275 pound Big ass Butt.   I needed to lose my 10% and I did it through eating low carb.  I not only lost the 27 pounds, I lost 37 and Whamo!!! Surgery time.

So while I don't agree with Low Carbing now because I have my own issues with it,  I will say that it works and it works quickly.   So get yourself a chunk of me at get to eating, you can lose 12 pounds in a week eating that way.

DON'T YOU DARE TELL ANYONE I TOLD YOU THIS.   (even though everyon on BAF that knows me know how I feel about low carbing)  lol

I am a low carber for life .  My couple decade decension into the dark side of the fda food pyramid lead me from chubby to obese.  I'm back to chubby but my body resisits transitioning to thin. That's my story not yours, lol.

I have to agree with MsLee.  Most folks with normal metabolisms loose well on low carb.  Five pounds is a tall order but low carb is your best option.  Unlike MsLee I feel best physically and emotinally eating low carb.  I've known this since my teens and I'm now 50.  Carbs spur my appetite and leave me hungry soon after a full meal (Like the old joke about Chinese food and being hungry an hour later.  I think its the rice, noodles, egg roll and wontons wrappers that do it. Lol.)

Two approaches:

Protein sparing modified fast
Basically high protein from lean meats & nothing else.  It is usually used for very short periods like five to seven days because it is hard to stick with.  It is designed for no ops and often used as a pre op test to determine if you will go into ketosis.  In short you have three, 3oz meals a day of lean meat.  I had five but still lost 14 lbs in the five day period (252lbs to 238lbs).  See the link in the accountability thread.  I would guess this will yield the best result.

Atkins induction
Head to atkins.com if you don't want to buy the book.  High protein, low carb of 20g or less per atkins net carb calculation with no restrictions on fats.  It is not unusual to take off 5lbs during week one.  A very obese person can take off ten in the usual two weeks.

Its a good primer to living low carb post weight loss.  Carbs are a big part of why so many of us are fat.  Sugar, flour, starchy carbs are habit forming and so so good.  Now if I could only get myself and this bum metabolism of mine to loose on stictly low carb!  Good luck to you.

i been doing the low low carb and high protein for the last month and a half and stayed true to it. I think I finished with the ketosis stage. I just learned about that cause my breath was STANK!! so bad.

I was losing and all of a sudden I just came to a hault. I'm going to keep on at it and hopefully I'll start losing again.
