This is one of the things holding me up from my goal. Any comments or suggestions would be nice and I already know about the health forums Diet and Nutrient board.

You are taking alot of calcium.  Some docs may say too much.  Are you using calcium citrate or carbonate?  Calcium citrate is better absorbed and used by the body.

Try increasing your vitamin d to 1500iu.   Some docs feel this is too much but it aids in calcium absorption.  Many vets who have maintained long term take high doses of vit d even as much as 15000iu daily.

Spread your doses at least four hours apart.  The body cannot absorb mega doses of supplements.  Too much at once is wasted.  I suspect that is what is going on wit your calcium since 1200mg once daily should be sufficient.   8am, noon, 4pm, 8pm may work better.

When your calcium is up to normal you may want to teduce it to around 600mg per dose for a total of 1800mg.  With issues of deficiency and bone loss this is what I've been prescribed for sevral years now.

Also switch from ferrous sulfate to elemental iron.  Like the alternativ form of calcium, it is better absorbed and used by the body.

You may want to explore the brands of bariatric vitamins as they are more easily absorbed than regular otc vits.  Bariatric advantage, building blocks, opurity, celebrate are a few well known brands.  There are many "experts" on some of the boards.  However, be aware that they may have monetized blogs and websites to steer yu for purchasing.

In addition to the manufacturer's site amazon carries a number of bariatric supplements at reasonable prices.  They also carry sublingual supplements like a, b, and d vits which are better absorbed and used by the body.

Last, do your homework.  Often times medications, otc drugs, other supplements and medical conditions interfere with test results and/ or supplement absorption.

Glad to be of help.  I'm simply parroting what I've heard because I'm no expert.  It has been trial and error with my labs.

I see myself as a "Tween" (Past newbie yet still inexperienced; and, damned tired of working at weight loss every day.) and not yet a Vet.  However, the Vets on BAF taught me more than all of these boards put together.

On the calcium you want calcium citrate not caltrate.  Caltrate is a brand name and is also calcium carbonate.  Calcium citrate is a better type of calcium.  The brand Citrical is made from calcium citrate.  Both brands are often shelved next t each other and are easy to confuse.  Always ensure the label says calcium in the form of "citrate".
Same with iron.  It should say "elemental".

Bariatric formulas for rny or ds will take all the guess work out of buying.  Total costs are about the same because they are complete.  No added b vitamins or trace elements usually needed.  Formulas for ds usually have added a, d, e, and k.

One thing I forgot to mention.  Be sure your vitamin d is d3 not d2.  D3 is arguably better suited to increasing the metabolic benefits of calcium and fat metabolism.  My neurologist, endocrinologist, and cardiologist all prescribe d3 and test my d3 levels regularly.
