I went to my doctor due to the fact i have been gaining weight and not feeling well 5 yrs after my surgery. He did a scope and today called to set me up with a surgery date for small bowel resestion,he said my bmi is 1.8 away from Tricare requirement for a revision but this surgery may help me lose weight and may not.He aslo explained that I did have some englargement.I then asked well what if I gained weight and he said I never tell paitents to do that.I feel mas though I need the small bowel and the nrevision and i would rather go under the knife once.Any thoughts?

I don't really understand the small bowel resection.  Will it help stop the weiht gain so you can loose again?  That may make it worth while.  However, it sounds like you really don't want this surgery.  In your place I would hold off until I got another opinion.

It is interesting that your dr informed you how close you are to qualifying (Unless of course you asked him.).  It would be unethical for your dr to support gaining weight given the health risks.   However, you are already gaining weight.   Unless a bowel resection is urgently needed  you will likely qualify for that revision if you keep doing what you are doing now.

Good luck to you whatever you decide.

I did go and get a second opinon and he recommend the sleeves. On the paperwork for the insurance coordinator he put both codes for the sleeve vs the small bowel resection.Tricare doesn't cover the sleeve, but they cover wls,and revisions.I asked my first doc about the weight gaining seeing I'm 1.8 away from the bmi and I would rather have one surgery. But something has to be done because the weight gain, stomach pains, nausea, horrible dumping, and now even though I wasn't diabetic before I am now.

Big decision.  Sounds like you may not be able to wait out the inevitable weight gain.  With the number of wls procedures out there another revision option should exist.  Hopefully common sense will rule the insurance bureaucracy and you will have your revision.  Good luck to you.
