Night Class Confrontation, white woman tried to call me out.

I am doing a night class this semester , actually two of them, well one of the students this older white woman ran into me at the campus store and we walked over to class together and she called me honey twice and when we arrived at the class I told her I would prefer if she called me by my name or title. I could tell she thought I was young.
So she said oh i'm sorry I am just use to referring to younger people as honey so I told her I am not young i'm fourty eight years old and this ******g ***** had the nerve to look at me and say you ******g black women make me sick, I am only two years older than you and I look like a old lady, it's just not fair. I told her what she said was very rude and advised her not to speak to me in that manner again,
Who the he'll does this ***** think she is. Class is about to start and she keeps looking at me. LOL.

All that's left is for her to compliment you on how articulate you are then in closing tell you that you have been a credit to your race. Just shows how bigotry is passed from one generation to the next.
Our generation should know better but instead she adds young people to her bigotry. I supposed she expects you should have been calling her m'am. Or, perhaps she was awaiting a rolling eyed laughing negro performance.
Child of the 60's, living in an arguably liberal state yet behaving this way. Can you imagine what I see in "deleverance country" N Fl/ S Ga? Bravo putting her crusty @$$ in her place.

after class she came up to me after class and said she apologized sincerely and that most of her girlfriends are black and that is how they talk to each other and she feels really bad. I just said I understand that, but i'm not one of your girlfriends.

Well, I have to give her credit for apologizing.
Doesn't it just annoy the hell out of you the way some people think all Black folks in this country are the same? Nationality, ethnicity, education, socio economic facters create differences among other peoples. She knows you are an educated woman. Why would she think makig a public spectacle of yourself with profanity is acceptable to you? She may have Black friends but she reduces them to a stereotype.
