OT.......It feels good!!

I hope all is well with my BAFam. I wanted to share some good news. It seems that not a lot of it is shared these days. But I had an opportunity to see some family that I hadn't talk with in ages this weekend, meet some I didn't even know about, reconnect with some that was long overdue, and talk with my handsome "grand" nephew whom I haven't seen since he was one…..(He’s almost ten now!).  It felt good to reconnect!  It felt good to embrace family and friends once again....Even though the occasion was to memorialize a family member who passed.  (Funerals seem to necessitate our getting together as a people!).  We came together and remembered him well, and then we spent some time just "visiting" with each other. I hung out with my dad for awhile, (and even got him to go out and have lunch with us afterwards..…which was a miracle in itself :-).  My dad is almost 90, and is the patriarch of the family. What a joy he is!  I talked with one of my brothers (whom I haven’t seen or spoken to in 3 years) and his family. It wasn't a "family reunion"..........but who knows.......it could be a start to one! I love my family and have missed that family feel......So it felt good this weekend to reconnect!........Give it a try BAFam.........Reconnect!....It feels good!!

I was well overdue for some family time too PC.  Even though the gathering was to say goodbye to a family member, it was still a renewing of sorts for us all.

Thanks,

So true!  I'm on my way home to Daytona Beach, FL.  I haven't been home since 2007, my father and grandmother have never seen my son (other than pictures).  I'm so excited.

And, it's not for a funeral, thank the Lord.  Like Phyll said, nothing like family!

Wow!  What an exciting trip for family to meet you child for the first time.  I hope you have a great reunion with your family and friends.  Enjoy your time together.  I also met my 21-month old triplet (boys) grand nephews last weekend!  Talk about an amusing sight to see the 3 of them into everything!

That's great to hear!!   Families are an important part of who we are (whether good or bad) & it's even more important than before to do our best to stay connected.  Unfortunately my maternal side is the same way, as we only get together at funerals usually.  Unless my immediate family is hosting my paternal sides reunion, then we always do a dual reunion, so they can attend ( my parternal relatives have always been great about this & even include my maternal grandmother & aunt (both deceased) in our rememberance section at reunions.

My great great aunt started our paternal reunions in 77/78 & I think due to a death, only one has been cancelled.

So, finally my maternal side is in the planning stages of starting up our own reunion, starting next year.
