Has anyone ever heard of a breathalyzer being inaccurate due to the fact that a person has had RNY?

Some wls folks have a lower tolerance for alcohol.  We get buzzed more quickly on less than we did pre op.  This will show on a brethalizer because it is in our system.  Its not that the breathalizer is inaccurate.  The wls patient is more easily intoxicated.

I'm not saying this is universal but for the wls folks I am close to it is true.  There is generally a two drink limit with those drinks well spaced.  Otherwise us folks who once could drink anyone under the table will be dancing on that table crazy drunk.

You will blow at a higher limit than a person without the surgery, why IDK. Most police officers are aware of this happening to people with WLS. So if it happens to anyone you know, tell them to let the officers know upfront if a DUI is suspected.

It happens in breathalizers and blood tests. I went to the emergency room more than 24 hours after I had my last glass of wine and my level was .13. I was told that our bodies now take longer to process alcohol.
