I am 3 yrs post op Lap Band. I have realized that my passion now is to help and assist others to live a healithier lifestyle.
My goal is to become a wellness /coach trainer (I am a Registered Nurse)
To coach people before and after weight loss surgery. To eventually open my own wellness clinic. Offering a variety of services.
I desire to work with the obese because I know the personal pain and stigma attached to the obese .
I  am working on getting my personal trainer certification and my spinning instructor certification.
Lap Band surgery save my life and opened an entire new career field for me.
I love working out now and I want to spread this love to others who may not even know they have it in them.
I was once almost 300 pounds and could not run one block. Today I am 180 (goal to be 165) and I can run 6 miles with no problem. I lift weights and I have an undying passion for cycling/spinning.
Please do not hesitate to drop me a line if you need any extra encouragement or a boost . We all need a lift from time to time.
I am no expert (not yet) but I am working on becoming one. LOL.
You "FRIEND" in this life long journey.
Barbara

GREAT!  It's so helpful when you're working with someone who has actually experienced the struggle.  Wishing you much success.

CONGRATS!!! I have my surgery next week and I'm super excited!! However ... my main concern is loose skin. What do you suggest in that aspect? I'm sooooooo SCARED that my stomach will end up looking like a bucket of chittlins ... lol

I would tell you to up your protien intake, it helps with loose skin and to exercise. I have loose skin, being overweight for so many years and the skin stretched out for so long. There is really nothing you can do about some of that skin but you can help it by eating your protien, drinking your water and exercising.
