Almost There!!! Somewhat...
4 more pounds until I reach my goal weight of 140 lbs!!!! Sept 28th will be a full year since having my RNY and despite some of my issues experienced, I'm still in favor of my decision to have it. Currently I wear size 5/6 in pants! (never imagined that let alone a single digit period) and depending on how the shirt is made I'm a small, even x-small in some! I'm loving it!!! Those I've told since having it that didnt know me prior don't believe I ever needed it until they see pics. Overall I'm healthy, I've managed to stay properly hydrated and maintain my potassium levels. The last time they dropped critically low, I ended up in the hospital for a week. I no longer worry about high blood pressure or any of my other weight related issues! Loosing 100 pounds is such a great deal to me and changed my life in so many great ways. I'm more confident, self assured, and enjoy just being me! Most recently I've run into a slight issue...Even prior to RNY I tend to cross my legs when I sit. Not a problem then but now it's caused an issue with the nerve behind my knee. Now that I've lost all the weight, there's no longer all of the fat covering the nerve there. The compression from me crossing my legs has since damaged it some. I'm still able to walk and do so with a very heavy limp, but I cant move my foot upwards at the ankle or move my toes! It started like 2wks ago and since I've maintained visits with a neurologist for testing to determine the degree of damage. Today I was fitted for an AFO brace to keep my foot from dragging when I walk. Today I was also told after a 2nd round of testing that the nerve damage isnt to the point of being permanent nor does it require surgery. It should heal itself in the next 3-4 months and I'll have to wear my brace until it does. Even with all this mess, I wouldnt take the weight back for anything
Congrats to you!!! Excellent job, and what a thrill to be in such small sized clothes!
As for foot drop, it can be nerve issues from leg crossing (pressure/pinching), but can also be a vitamin B deficiency, especially in RNY and DS patients.

The last response by rbb825 is the one to check out. She is right about the B vits. As an RNY'er you should be taking b12 by shots, patch or sublingual (dissolves under the tongue), as we no longer produce an enzyme called intrinsic factor, which is required to absorb b12 by swallow-able pills, tablets, food, etc.
Always request a copy of your lab work. Doc offices like to tell us that our levels came back normal, when often we are low in some of those values, because they just barely meet the 'normal' range. For WLS folks, we need to also trend our labs to follow any rises/falls in important levels over time. If we become low on some items (esp. iron, ferritin, D & B Vits) they can drop faster than non-ops and we need to be aware of this.
There are more threads on it here on OH, just use the search function using 'foot drop'.
Best wishes to you in resolving this.
