Hi Im new to the boards. Currently doing research on Gastric sleeve any advice suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance!
I think the biggest pro for the vsg is the intestine stays in tact meaning no malabsorption. My suggestion to you is
First do not eliminate any surgery in your research. Understnd every available option. You only want to do this once.
Second understand why you are fat. Be brutally honest. You may not like what you have to own up to but own it. You will have a preliminary grip on the head issiues surgery won't fix. You will also understand your co morbidities and which procedure has the best record for aleviating it.
Third understand what you find to be the pros and cons of each procrdure. What do you desire and if it is good for you or will it play to your weaknesses. What do you abhor about each procedure and of what you can't stand do you really need it. Think mental and physical.
Last and very important this is all about you. Ignore the people who bash surgeries other than what they had. Especially ignore the cheerleaders recruiting for the surgey they have. Even if they are still trapped in their pre wls negative relation ship with food they won't come clean in spite of significant weight gain or insufficient weigt loss. If you want opinions learn the truth based on fact first. Then ask what others think. This way you are not confused by promotors and liars.
Glad you are here and welcome. Be a regular and post often. Wls questions or other topics we are about more than weight loss.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
I agree with everyone above. You need to research every single surgery.
I can tell you I feel like I work harder for my weight loss with my sleeve than the lady at my job who got the rny. I exercise way more, 5 to 6 times a week. I have more struggles with food, meaning, since no dumping, I can eat anything with no repercussion. So, I do have to deal with my food issue, coming out the gate. I feel that my weight loss is slower but....
I love my sleeve.
Thing the I mention above are the things I am learning to love each day.
Have fun researching, it is exciting knowing that one day you can be healthy.

I agree with the other ladies, that with the vsg you don't loss weight fast and you have to work harder to get the weight off. I am two years and some and have only lost 80 something pounds from a 24w to a 14 misses don't get me wrong i'm glad about it. I have not had any problems and like she said you have to watch want you eat and exercise for me that's speed walking and riding my bike. Slow somethings is good you keep the weight off I think.......
