I am begging for your prayers and advice. I had RNY surgery in 2006, I lost 80pounds and have gained 60 of them back. I now have a 2 year old and am struggling with my eating habbits and lack of excercise. Trying to get back on track now by using my fitness pal. HELP

I'm not usually so blunt nor do I attemp to 'diagnose' people but it seems to me that you may be a compulsive eater.  As a result, keeping the weight off was thwarted by a return to the old ingrained patterns.  The plumbing was adjusted but the dysfunctional relationship with food continues.

As a long term wls veteran, you already know what you need to do.  See your surgeon and ensure everything is functioning as it should be.  Fix what's broken if aything really is broken.  Then get back to basics.   Protein, water, measure food for portion control, no drinking with meals, planned meals and snacks, no grazing, vitamins daily...

Get off your @$$ today even if just for a 20 min walk in place at home.  Exercise now.  You don't need an elaborate plan, equipment, or a lot of time.

Overeaters Ananymous online has a WLS email loop you can join for support.  Member posts are distributed to the group through email.  Many folks there are going through the same thing.  Links to OA are in my signature.  You don't have to be a 12 step believer.  Take what you need and discard the rest.

Two topics on MFP message boards that may interest you.

support for Binge Eating Disorder - part 4

WLS support and inspirational information - part 2

There are OHers regularly on OA and on both MFP topics but I doubt you will recognize them.  Folks tend to keep these different support systems separate.

God always has your back.  However, He also helps those that help themselves.  Prayer, wishes, swinging cats, won't get you there.  Be as committed as you were the day you had your procedure.

You took step one and asked for help now keep it going.  Come back and post often.  Let others learn from your experience.  You are not the only poster with this issue.  Hopefully others will come out and share their experience with weight gain.

Your wls tool is still with you despite being well past your peak malabsorption period.  Your capacity for food is still far lower than it was pre op.  We retain some level of calorie malabsorption although experts cannot pinpoint an exact perrcentage (not even for newbies).

Best wishes to you.  You can do this a second time around.

Sorry u feel u failed.  Really as long as you continue to work at your goals you have not failed.  This set back can be temporary. I didn't have rny but like most wls if you start back following the rules it will help.  Wishing u the best of success.

Don't give up, help is available.  When I gained six pounds I went running to my bariatric surgeon and discovered the opening to my pouch had stretched.  I asked what could he do to help me get back on track.  We scheduled a revision date and I began working with the nutritionist like I did before my surgery.  Well, five months later and the seven pounds are gone without the revision.

The point behind my story is you can have a revision to get your pouch back to were it once was, but to be honest with you, it's not going to work if you don't dedicate yourself to change.  Now, if it was me, I would try to have a revision, but I would also schedule myself for regular sessions with the nutritionist.  Six pounds is a lot less than sixty, so I know it's not going to be easy, but I believe you can do it.

Good luck.

I  am  going  thru  the  same  thing the  only  difference  is  I  let  others  who  have  had gastric  influence me and  what  I  thought  my  results  should  be. I  had  surgery  in  2009  was over400lbs lost  "only'"  150lb so  I still  look  down  on  myself  and  say why me ! I  see  others around  me  who   have  lost  so  much  more and  I  am  upset !
EVERYONE  is  different  and  should  expect different  results.  I think  you  should  go back  to  your  surgeon  because  after not  losing for  a  while I  found  out  I  had  several  stumbling  blocks , bowel  obstruction, gall bladder , hernias, strictures, and  now  vitamin and  iron  defiencies that I  cant  get  under  control! I  do  exercise  daily NOW and  I  do admit  that  when the  weight was  falling  off  by  itself  I  got  a  little  lazy  and  off  track  after  the  1st  year. I  encourage  you  to  go  visit your  surgeon, do everything  you  were doing  when  you  first  had  surgery. Wish  you  the  best  of  luck  in  the  future  .
