How much have you gained back?
It's not to late because you still have your tool your just not working your tool and therefore your tool is not working.
Start again, I too have gained a ton of weight, close to 60 pounds and I have been struggling for the past 3 years to get it off and it is a hard battle and at times it feels utterly impossible, but I'm not giving up and neither should you.

You only fail when you give up. Malabsorption levels decrease but you will always have some malabsorption. In addition you will always have a pouch far smaller than your stomach was. You are already ahead of the game.
Go back to the basics. Get your annual follow up exam. Do what you already know how to do. Most important, work on the issues surgery could not fix.
You are in control of this situation. Failure is your choice. I hope you choose success.

LV'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Sorry to hear this but I know your pain sort of. I did not gain all of my weight back but I gained 80 pounds of 280 lost back and since March of last year I have re-lost 42 of those 80 pounds back. It takes a lot of effort and determination to get it back off and I am never giving up. Success is never giving up. there is a group on here called get back on track. Print down the packet and go back to basics. I started going back to support groups and I do 2 telephone supports groups a month for WLS patients also. Read my blogs, hopefully they will be helpful to you.
Believe you can do it and you will! And the 1st thing to do is to stop the negative talk and get rid of the shame. It will not help you to move forward.
And I totally agree with MSW comments to you also

I have the same issue. I have a hiatial hernia and have been told by the dr that did my endoscopy that my stoma is open. My original surgeon disagrees and won't even discuss it with me. I had gained back 83 of the 130 pounds I lost. I have lost 37 of those pounds, but will be seeking a second opinion very soon.
I have to face the real possibility that this is a problem that will never be fixed and it is going to be up to me to lose this weight by myself and with no help from my tool.
I am 8 years post op and will never, ever give up.
For me, I have gone to therapy to learn why I needed surgery in the first place. Instead of binging at night I either exercise, or go to bed. I have been trying to find hobbies that take my mind off food. I know that in time, if I keep fighting the urge to eat on demand, that muscle will get stronger and it will not be a hard fight any more. When you are hungry all the time, please know that this is not always physical hunger. Emotional hunger will never be satisfied with food. You have to find something to fill the empty hole that food is now being used to fill.
Good luck to you.
