Curious about experiences of African-Americans who had plastics, including scaring...

I have not had any plastics but there are many Black people who have had plasics with no scarring issues.  For that matter I do not remember any scarring issues at all on BAF.

None are here daily anymore but I will forward a link to this thread to those I can remember whom are also on my friends list.  If they still log into OH at all perhaps someone will reply.

Black Latina here ... I had plastics 2+ years ago... I had an insurance paid panniculectomy and over a year ago I had a modified brachioplasty ... NO SCARS ... I only had my pannus removed with no muscle or above the navel involvement ... healed with no scars at all and now I can barely find the suture line from hip to hip... check it out in my panniculectomy folder in my photo area .. this is the link http://www.obesityhelp.com/myoh/photos/388246/PANNICULECTOMY -9-16-08/FREE-NO-MORE-BINDERS/#photo

Martita, If I ever get the courage I'm using your surgeon.  Love the results.  Scared of the pain.  All I need is the skin lopped off.  My muscle tone in the ab region is better than just fine.

Thank you! You will do fine with your plastics just follow instructions and use your binders faithfully.  What are you planning to have done?

I'm thinking about abdominoplasty.

I've had two rounds of plastics.  I was too chicken to do a full lower body lift - so I went with a TT.  The first round, I had an 'issue' with the surgeon and my TT turned out to only be a bad try at panni removal.  the next year, I had a revision to a anchor cut TT and also added a breast lift.

I'm pretty light skinned (no jokes from the the other BAFers please lol) so I do have scars, but they are not big or bad at all - they are flat.

I am contemplating having an upper back lift -  but I am not sure at all yet.

I will say - make SURE you #1 - use a surgeon who knows WLS patients - it's a whole different thing to reconstruct after major weight loss and REASEARCH - especially w/your state's medical board.  If you see ANYTHING - RUN!!!! forrest.... RUN!!!!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
