Question for the ladies who've had WLS....it's about the hair

My hair is relaxed now and I'm having WLS in March.   Did you have problems with relaxing after surgery?  How long should I wait afterwards? I only relax 3-4 times a year now and it's time do have my re-touch now. If 3 months out is pretty ok, then I'm going for it.  Otherwise, I'll go back natural again if I need to.

Thanks.

It really just depends.  Your hair will change - and continue to change for some time after surgery.

You will have to see what happens for you - you may need additonal supplementation (I did) and then again - it could stay exactly the same.

I can only suggest you make sure you do all you can to maintain it - that way you'll know what's really wrong vs. poor care habits.

Good luck!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Some how fat made my hair extra course. Even my body hair is fine now - weird . My hair couldn't hold a perm before , now it can. Funny

I  can really comment on perming - since I stayed natural until I was 7 months out

Thanks ladies.  I appreciate your responses.  I was just wondering if there were any special concerns that I needed to have with relaxed hair.  I guess I'll just have to wait and see.  I've got a lot of it so I hope I can take a big loss without having to start all over.

Thanks again.

After i had surgery my hair was awful, a perm didnt look like a perm.. my hair is naturally curly and it was between curly with straight ends.. had my ends cut but that didnt change it at all.. it was horrible so i went to the babrber shop and had them cut it off. I been wearing my hair short every since then, I go once eery 4 weeks pay $10 and cut my hair off.. Nothing like not being a slave to the hairdresser... also got tired of sitting there for hours while she worked on me and 4 other people. it was an all day event.. but everyone loves the short cut on me but my husband,.. but that's not a factor for me... i get up put mouse it in every morning and go to work.. natural is the way to go

yes, my hair did fall out in the crown and edges after a perm but i had surgery the year before and i had the wls the next year, it is starting to grow back and i take extra biotin and selenium. every one is different, but i wear weaves until it fills out

lovely2lqqat, I wore my hair a la "Joan Clayton" for 5 years and started out with a super short cut because my hair came out in my crown terribly after a myomectomy.  I've only been relaxed for a year so I know it can be easy breezy.  I just wanted something different for a while, but, if I have to start over, it's no biggy to me.   I've just got to get on the hunt for a cute style, because I prefer myself with a little hair, but shaped up really cute (like Halle or Anita B).

Thanks everyone for your replies.
