I am really starting to dislike hearing about wls patients that started out as light weights and making it to a size 0-4.  I know everyone journey is different ,but hell do not talk to some one who started out a 100+ lbs heavier than you like we are in the same boat because we are not.  Your odds are just scientifically better that mines that you  will get to and maintain a health weight than superly obese person like myself. Am I jealous yes, do I know I have to work just that much harder to be healthy yes. Sorry about the rant  ,but it just very irritating to me today since the majority of my wls buddies that are actually in my life do not understand this.

I understand, I can relate, I FEEL ya!!!!!!!!!!  Coming from a high weight of 372 and now down to 225....there is a difference.  Although this struggle is hard for all of us.

Too many folks simply lack empathy or even common courtesy.  They just don't get it when it comes to the variety that exists among obese people.  Other wls folks can be as ignorant towards each other as the general population is towards obesity.

Loosing upwards of 50% of your excess weight is a triumph if you land at a size 20 or a size 2.  Different metabolisms will handle wls differently.  Even two folks starting out the same can each work their plans dilligently with vastly different results.

As a 'light weight', so called, I hate the asumption that my task was easy.  I hate the assumption that I just woke up a hundred pounds lighter when in reality after two years I'm still shy of that post op 100.  I hate the assumption that if I gain two sizes its no big deal because its single digits.

We need to respect the difficulty we all face reaching our goals and staying healthy.  This is a long term struggle for each of us.  Before we critique, before we compare, we need to see things from the other persons perspective.

I agree but I must say some of my wls buddies from work will make comments to me like I am a size four now what size are you now. When they know damn well I stilll considered plus sized.  Then make comments like I am size four I better start lifting weights so I do not fade away. They understand I can not relate to their stage of weight loss  I am still fighting to get to a healthy weight so I can live.

I do get why it would make anyone mad.  That's exactly what I mean when referring to ignorant @$$ wls folks.  Common courtesy, empathy, basic respect for the experiences of others is missing in these folks who make digs and pot shots through their comparisons.  (((MsNGQ)))
