Friends with benefits

Ayy yo,

Far be it for me to be negative or prone to tell it like it is , but I have a real problem with this new Ashton Kutcher flick "No Strings Attached."  Y'all know the one where he and the leading starlet decide to just be friends with "xesually" benefits but don't want the added headache of to be tied down to each other - kinda like extra-marital affairs or the basis for Bishop Eddie Long's legal troubles.  Sounds harmless enough as far as movies go right but I call "Boring!" and "Predictable!" without even having seen the film. 

Aside from the weak set-up premise and simple plot, the thing that I cringe at is the notion that Hollywood execs still miraculously believe that Ashton is still some box-office gold that will have young ladies running to the theater, fist full of dollars and credit cards to see this one.  Nah.  I saw "The Butterfly Effect" and I know that's not the case.  If you ask me, Mr. Kutcher is a "has-was" and proverbally shot his wad right onto his foot when he married Cougar High-Priestess Demi Moore.  Oh don't worry I like Demi, but let's face it - a woman 16 or 20 years older than her husband just seems creepy as they both get older together.   Yikes!

Even in this age of the so-called Cougar Phenomenon or as I call it the "She-Tigger" generation, TV and now the movies will have you believing that most straight middle-aged women seem to lust for with wild abandon, ripped males under the age of 28 who can afford to run around bare-chested with taunt six-packs aglow like rejects from the Twilight movie series, throwing caution to the wind as they try to imagine their inner inner-freak being unleashed by some guy perhaps old enough to be their oldest son's age.  Can you say, "Ewwww" & "Yuck" boys and girls?  But if that's your thing, go for it. 

"But Double_Ayy! why it gotta be the "She-Tigger generation?"  Well, let me answer that by saying in the Winnie the Pooh folklore, Tigger the zestfully mirth-filled tiger bounced around the forest unsatisfied all day on his tail in search of more fun.  Isn't that what today's these cougars are portrayed as - looking for tail satisfaction or more fun with their azz?

Poor Ashton.  He could've been one of Hollywood's leading xes-symbols but now he's seen by most young women in his so-called demographic as some perverted old dude who has to hurry home from the red carpet to help change his wife's Depends.  Way back when, when Bruce Willis was in the saddle and had hair, single women and post-pubescent teens thought of him as a rugged ladies man with no end to his star power.  But now that he's bald, old, and looking like he needs a mid-morning nap (not to mention doing dumb-azz movies with used-to-be-very-funny Tracy Morgan - WTH brought that on I wonder?), those same women now see him as the poster child for rest homes or new 55 and over communities.  My how time flies when you're "The Man" though...  But those are the breaks.    

Personally, I find it hard to take anything seriously on TV these days or the movies for that matter, especially anything that is labelled "Reality TV" because it's neither real nor is it steeped in reality, but since it is shown on television we as viewers tend to give it a pass as if it were in fact real, plopping down to view it without doing the normal BS check list in our heads.  However, that's kind of how they are marketing this movie to us don't ya think?  "Imagine if you will... two lost souls... who don't want to be in a committed relationship....  they just want to boink each other senseless..."   No matter how much that appeals to us men that's simply not reality for a lot of women that I know.

An afidavit of clean health and enough cash up front and I'll be a friend to someone seeking benefits.

I dropped cable and I rarely turn on broadcast tv.  Fact is, any of the few decent shows I've missed will be in a boxed set and on netflix streaming within six months anyway.

Exactly.  That's my point.  We just accept it and keep it moving.  No checks and balances on our entertainment.

TV…     I dated a younger man and it had nothing to do with releasing some “inner freak". Our personalities and values clicked.  

Nothing wrong with that. 

However, TV news reports on American pop-culture try to make it seem as if there is some sort of epidemic when it occurs and that women who primarily date younger men are only in it for the physical benefits.

I think the movie premise is BS much the same as Pretty Women had hoes everywhere thinking they could have that happen to them one day.......

dudes already shady as a plantation grove in the game these days - most will use this dumb azz movie as more ammo to drop bad game and run tricks on girls who need to know more and be better but just aren't......

That Pretty Woman malarkey had folks squawking on the news for weeks about how it could happen, what if does it happen, and what if it already has happened?  Then all of a sudden British actor Hugh Grant got busted getting a BJ from a black hookah in LA and all that Pretty Woman **** flew right out of the window. 

I feel you bruh. 

Conversely, I do have to applaud MTV for finally showing some REAL shyt with the 16 and preggo show.  Now THAT is some real ish for you right there!!! They did not make that look good at ALL! I just felt sorry for the girls and ALL the guys looked dumber than dog do-doo.

What *I* hate is that there's not been any Black movie entertainment in the vein of Boomerang or Waiting to Exhale - remember the blockbuster Black movies that showed is in a GOOD light?  Professionals with issues, but handing things well?  This whole Tyler Perry thing, while okay, just isn't up to par for me and certainly Pootie Tang, Soul Plane and this other bull just have me smh.........

Besides that - look at all the shyt the media blasts all the time - Jesse James is about to marry his hoe.  Brad Pitt and his hoe been going strong for YEARS..... every transgression gets so much air time, no one even notices the Ruby D and Ozzie's..... the Bill and Camille..... the ones who KEEP things tight and out of negative light (for the most part). 

When you had Leave it to Beaver - shyt kinda went that way.... Now you had Rosanne and this other mess..... and now it goes this way......

  You said it Ms#1MM.  Instead of art imitating life we've got life mimicking the trash of baser society only because it has media hype. 

OK!!! and it keeps getting worse!!! 

I will admit to contributing to the market share tho - cause I watch RHOA and just got hooked on the ghetto fabulous Basketballer's wives (although, there are several hoes on there that are divorced from or dumped by these men, so the title is a bit off) and even WITH money - these bytches is off the chain and aint' got a dollar of good sense between them all.......
