OOOH MAN!
I am going crazy on this 10 day liquid diet (pre-op). I am on day 5 and I feel like eating someone. I find myself snapping at my hubby because I purposly made dinner yesterday: Meatballs, Mashed Potatos and green beans.THAT alone was hard for me. Anywhoo, I made alot so I didn't have to worry about dinner for him and my son for 2 days. He took some for lunch leaving a little bit leftover. (He ate a huge helping for dinner yesterday evidently) Well today my hubby requested I put a frozen meal, Veal Parmasean in the oven and he wants pasta with it.
Long story short, I told my hubby he has to kind of keep me in mind when talking and requesting foods I can't eat. I totally understand HE isn't having this procedure done but I just need some support. It kinda made me sad b/c will it be the same way after surgery? I sure hope not. How did you guys do on the 10day liquid post-op diet? Any suggestions? I feel a little overwhelmed.

Families have to learn things are changing and they have to adjust too. It can't be all about the family with your needs excluded.

It will be the same way after surgery.
Have a serious talk with him. Let him know how important this is for you and that this will forever change both of you guys life. Examples:
Telisha: I'm going to work out.
Hubby: You're always working out. When are we going to spend some time together?
OR
Hubby: Baby, you don't need to work out, you look good. You know I like some meat on my bones.
~~~Now, this is how WonkaD will address the situation....~~~
WonkaD: I'm going to work out.
Hubby: You're always working out. When are we going to spend some time together?
WonkaD: Mofo, I'm trying to get healthy so you can either sit here on the couch and continue to EXPAND or come with me.
Hubby: Baby, you don't need to work out, you look good. You know I like some meat on my bones.
Super Cute WonkaD: I have meat on my bones. It's called muscle.
My point is, he needs to have your back today. Yeah, I know you need to tend to your family's needs, but right now might be a good time for him to stop and pick up his dinner before he gets home. The liquid diet is nothing to play with. Tell him about possible liver damage during surgery if you slip up and "taste test" dinner. Having good support is vital for your journey.
Good Luck!
I didn't have to do the ten day pre-op liquid diet. I only had to do three days, but I want to be honest with you -- the first days, weeks after your surgery are going to be tough. The liquid and mushy food stages that you have to go get old fast. I had my surgery the week before Thanksgiving and I gave my husband such dirty looks that he would eat outside the house or sneak his food in with my seeing it. By week three, I had gotten a handle on moods and felt thoroughly horrible and began to cook for him again.
So, its tough, but doable and well worth the effort. Hang in there!
