See below link of a new reality show coming A&E.  I saw it this morning on Good Morning America!!  It looks like it is going to be better than The Biggest Loser because they have built in time for the mental issues that plague the morbidly obese.

I hate I am going to miss it because I do not have cable TV?  Does anyone know if they have their shows on line to watch?

I will try to catch up on posts over the weekend.  Very busy at work today!

I just wanted to tell everyone to have a good weekend!!  One day at at time!

I have an issue with fat people as entertainment.  Anorexics and bulimics would never be treated with such disrespect.

Hopefully, this program treats obesity with more respect than the contests and some of the documentary type programs do.  I also hope it gives a realistic picture of our struggles and available treatment options.

We know wls is the best option for lasting wl.  Dieters have a less than 5% chance of long term success; yet, these programs are aired in hope of multi million $$$ branding opportunities.  Too often they include disparaging remarks about wls in support of products that don't work.

I have never thought of it like that but it is entertainment and it up to the contestants to put it out there like that.  They are getting something free themselves.  I would  never have the courage to put my weight issues out for the world to see.  NEVER.  They could NOT pay me to go there like these people have done.  Have a good weekend!

You have a great weekend too.

You could not pay any sum for me to put it all out there either in this fat phobic world.  I understand they are desperate.  They believe this is their last best hope.  Like with all wl attempts, they really want it to work.  Its the streotype undertones (greedy, lazy, etc) I abhor.  I hope this is different and points out that we are not all fat for the same reasons.    I also hope, unlike biggest looser, their methods are realistic and sustainable within a normal lifestyle.

it hurts to watch those shows, i hope they really help those people and give them and their familes after care, i stopped watching all of them because it seems the people are being taken advantage of or made a spectacle of.

I hope that this show is more grounded in reality than the Biggest Loser is. I read an interview by a former contestant of TBL and I was horrified by some of the things she had to go through. I knew TBL was horribly unrealistic but I had no idea of just how bad it is. You can read/hear the interview here: http://www.bodylovewellness.com/2010/06/09/kai-hibbard-biggest-loser-finalist-part-1-of-3/

Wonderful article. I know of a contestant from the show because he is related to my brother-inlaw and I know that he has gained back his weight. I stopped watching it after learning of his experience. He has not said anything as eye opening as this article. I saw clips of the new show with Bob putting his foot on top of the heaviest contestant's belly as he is on the floor due to leg issues and he and Jillian berating the guy. It's sick.
