Childhood Memories
Care to share one of your childhood memories? It could be funny, insightful, serious or whatever. Its some times good to reflect back on some of the events that made us who we are today. While I did have it pretty rough most of the time, I can also recall some good times. Here is one I recall off the top of my head:
We lived in Portland Oregon when I was in the 7th -10th grades. It was 1980 and I was blossoming into a teenager. Like so many other cities, the hot thing to do back then was go to the skating rink. That was when the song, "Bounce, Rock, Skate , Roll" was for real....THE SONG for skating. There was this one guy....yep..just like in the movie that just captivated the whole rink when he took the floor and every one had a crush on him. ( I think ever skating rink in America had one of these guys) I was overweight then but I still tried to get my skate on. I practiced and actually became pretty decent at skating. Well...this one day at the rink. I was going to try to show out just a little in hope of at least getting a glance or two from this guy. I took my behind out on the floor and was doing a little dance ...trying to wiggle my hips just enough not to throw myself off balance. Even ....was successful at turning around and going backwards a time or two...when here comes handsome....just a gyrating on his skates AND had the nerves to wink at me. When he did that all of my training went out the window!!! Next think I know I am careening out of control into the WALL! You would have thought the Titanic has just hit another iceberg cause my big azz went DOwn! LOL! I was so embarrassed.....but back in those days...I did not let anything keep me down. I got back up and played that **** off like it was suppose to happen that way. Anything for a laugh. That was a defense of mine for a long time.....keep em laughing and no one will focus on my weight. Ummmmm....well it started out as a fond childhood memory anyway. Yep...weight played a part in everything...even back then now that I think about it.

I remember the roller skating days. Like every one else I was out there trying to spend more time bouncing and rolling and less time landing on my @$$, lol. I never could dance or skate backwards. Staying upright was hard enough.
