Love M.I.A. men feel free to chime in

 Thought I'd share a poem inspired by Erykah Badu.  It's more like my venting about a relationship gone wrong. Ironically, we spent our last night together listening to Erykah's new cd.

Shoulda listened to Erykah now I’m singing her melody, her malady…

My love what did I do to make you fall so far from me
And now, I can’t recall cause of the fall, selected memory

i remember…

you painted the picture

talk of love without conditions,

thoughts like I was into you and you were i-n-t-o me… a shared intimacy.

brush strokes...

i put down my guard and led with my heart,

kisses that warmed me,  touches so tender,

 mind whispered warnings… too early to start.

now seems it’s over before it began.

morning light took flight,

left with anxiousness, full of anxiety,

was I mistaken, were you really into me?

Thanks for sharing.  Don't look at it as a relationship gone wrong...look at it as a relationship that you experienced that gave you information for managing future friendships.

Thanks for your advice. I try to learn from each relationship, but this one has me stumped. I've always had a difficult time understanding men. I'm taking a break for now. It's time to reassess. Plus, I'm tired of starting over.

 I will be buying this one to download into my iPod - thanks for sharing!!! 

I understand the sentiment all too well - I'm on a 'break' too - changed all my info and am doing the witness protection program thing - lol.  Keep ya head up! 

Thanks for the support. I've a enjoyed a few of Badu's songs before like "Tyrone", but was never a big fan. However, this cd is hot. It's well worth the investment. This may be her best one yet. Why this heffa felt like she had to take off her clothes in some publicity stunt I'll never know. The album stands on its on.

As for the relationship break, why do brothers start coming out of the woodworks once you make up your mind to chill for awhile?

p.s. How did the plastics heal? I'm trying to schedule something for this summer.

 See - brothers can't come outta the woodwork on me - I changed my home and cell # and deleted my 'friends' email addy that I used for folk I date.  I literally dropped off the face of the earth for them.  The very few that know where I live know much better than to show up - I live less than 5 miles from a police substation and they know I have dispatch's # in my phone.......   So - my days are blissfully quiet! 

and my plastics healed wonderfully! I'm still very happy with the results - it was a somewhat rough recovery but I am glad I took the leap of faith to do it.

Hey Slim,

The others are right...its just another experience under your belt to prepare you for the next person that will come into your life. Just take an inventory now....of what you liked and did not like about the relationship...what you would do differently, what you want and don't want etc...and move on with a new arsenal of information to make the next one that much better. Whatever you do....please stay positive...and know that you are a good person....and you deserve all the good things that life has to offer. I will check out the song on Youtube...thanks for sharing.  

Thanks for the comments. It's good to know that I am not alone in this. I will contemplate the good and the bad. I'm left to wonder what the common factor  is in most of my past relationships. I've dated guys who looked great on paper, if looks and income are a factor. However, their relationship skills were terrible. I must pay closer attention to the signs!!!!
