OT: Questions for parents of adult children
Well I did a quick google for "Foundations" AND " Allied Health" and came up with a slew of Foundations sites that offer funding in those areas.

Its good that she's a Junior. She could start proparing a word document with a lot of the required info needed for most of the current applications now and then its just a matter of cut and paste next year. I say...the more applications she puts out there the better her chances of getting some funding. Most Foundations or private grants do not use need as the only or main criteria. They realize that quit a few students with needs will be eligible for grants through the Feds. Here is one I found for example (its for the current academic year but its a good example). She could begin to draft her cover letter, get her references etc... and this will save a lot of time down the road. Looking at this...nice idea to put in community service hours if she has not already. I am sure your kids are already on this track because I know that you have been on it....going by past posts. Its good that she has found something that she likes. Of course the medical field is alway a great choice because with shortages there are a lot of employers who will pay back loans for people in these fields. Good luck with everything.

I'm going to put her to work as soon as I get home. Thanks for the info!
Thankfully, she's already been doing some community service work as part of the program that she's in now.
Most of the clinical positions in the medical field are relatively stable, but you'd be surprised at the number of job cuts there have been at hospitals in recent years. The economy i****ting everybody. Also, with changing technology, some positions are being phased out.
How did they finance their higher education?
student and parent loans
How did you transition them out of your house?
she couldn't wait to get out...lol...she stayed on campus for a yr and then shacked with her bf...she's returned home a couple times when they broke up...i told her since she was a preteen that when she moved out, she only had three "get outta jail free" cards to move back...she has one more card left and she will only use it if she is homeless, broke, poor, hungry...she hates the house rules...lol...
How did you handle issues regarding contributing to the household and budgeting?
as long as she is on my insurance, i claim her on my taxes and kick her out a lil somethin somethin...
